Chapter 13: A Different DADA Class

Chapter 13: A Different DADA Class

(T/L: it's been some time after we started uploading this fanfic I would like to know you thought about it

Expecting some stones or maybe i should call Ava.... No, Our dear Ken here....)

Until bedtime, Avada listened to Shabby and his three roommates talking endlessly about Hufflepuff's achievements in food and the cooking magic left by Helga Hufflepuff herself. He almost went hungry hearing all about it.

Fortunately, a senior student arrived in time to stop this "evil act of torturing" at night. Then, he went to the kitchen and brought back a plate of fragrant baked cookies.

In the end, Avada couldn't resist the temptation and ate several cookies with tears in his eyes before going to bed, so he didn't have much breakfast the next day.

What's even more tragic is that the first class in the morning was Defense Against the Dark Arts. Avada had just learned from Shabby yesterday that the real Defense Against the Dark Arts class was very different from what was shown in the original book. Since you have to defend against dark magic, you must fight, right? Since you have to fight, you must have a good body, right?

Therefore, the Defense Against the Dark Arts class not only teaches various evil spells and dark creatures but also serves as a physical education class and a combat class. It is normal for students to go downstairs and run around the Black Lake or put on protective gear to practice in pairs.

"I hope there won't be any strenuous activities in the first class..." Avada prayed silently as he followed the Hufflepuffs into the Defense classroom, followed by the Ravenclaws in blue-lined wizard robes – this made Avada feel more at ease, as at least even if there were confrontations, he wouldn't have to face the brave Gryffindors.

When the bell rang, a tall, thin, and well-mannered middle-aged wizard walked into the classroom and waved to the students with a smile.

"Good morning, everyone! Although Headmaster Dumbledore has already introduced me to you at the beginning of the school year, I still have to repeat it to prevent some of the little ones from being too excited and not listening carefully..."

He turned around and raised his hand, and the chalk floated up by itself, writing a name neatly on the blackboard.

"Benjamin Baker, member of the International Dark Arts Defense League board of directors, and also an adventurer. I have been on adventures in Greece, Eastern Europe, and Africa and have fought against dark wizards and dark creatures many times. So, I believe I have some experience in dealing with dark magic, and I should be able to teach you enough practical knowledge."

"He must be very cool." Avada heard a faint voice coming from Ravenclaw, which seemed to be a girl's: "He is an adventurer and has been to many places! Maybe he is as cool as Gilderoy Lockhart!"

"When I first started working, many senior professors told me..." Professor Baker ignored the subtle discussions below and continued, "They told me that I should let the freshmen feel the charm of this course in the first class to stimulate their interest and enthusiasm. So, I specially prepared this thing..."

He took out a magic prop that looked like a projector from under the podium, then took out his magic wand and pointed it at his temple. He slowly pulled out a white light thread from it and merged it into the "projector".

"Everyone, pay attention." He tapped the projector with his wand, and the device projected a light screen in mid-air, on which was played a dazzling picture:

In the light screen, Professor Baker, holding a magic wand, was fighting fiercely with a masked man in a gorgeous black robe. The masked man swung a few blue bullets of light, forcing Professor Baker to dodge to the side, and then, as if anticipating this move, he sent a brilliant green light to the place where he was about to land.

The ground under Professor Baker's feet melted like water, allowing him to blend into the ground and avoid the green light. Then, Professor Baker suddenly appeared from behind him and fired a fireball at him. The masked man quickly put up a shield, but he didn't expect that everything was just an illusion. The real Professor Baker was standing invisible not far away, concentrating an extremely powerful spell.

When the masked man found out that he had been tricked, he immediately set off a raging flame and burned everything around him indiscriminately, forcing Professor Baker out.

Afterwards, the two began a fierce head-on battle, sometimes fighting hand-to-hand, using wands and magic like daggers to stealthily kill; sometimes keeping a distance, pouring all kinds of gorgeous and powerful spells on each other like a waterfall.

Later, the masked man even summoned a giant dragon, whose iron claws and fiery breath put Professor Baker in danger... After fighting for nearly ten minutes, Professor Baker was still holding on.

After killing the dragon, he used the terrain transformed by transfiguration and a clever combination of illusion and invisibility ...to trick the masked man into launching a powerful attack. He then seized the opportunity and launched a fierce attack, completely defeating the opponent.

The screen playback ended here. Professor Baker put away the projector and looked at the students below with satisfaction. At this moment, they had already lost their minds, their pale faces filled with tension and excitement, and they even forgot to breathe.

"Merlin, this is awesome!"

"When the giant dragon suddenly appeared, my heart seemed to stop for a moment..."

"And that purple arrow of light, I was so shocked when it hit the professor's shoulder..."

Avada was slightly better, but he was also shocked. The battle played on the screen was comparable to a high-budget blockbuster. The distance shooting scene was no less exciting than the battle between Dumbledore and Voldemort in the movie "Order of the Phoenix". The close combat was also like the most exciting martial arts movie, with a fast and fierce rhythm.

Professor Baker's mental power was obviously weaker than Dumbledore's, but he didn't expect that they would be so terrifying in actual combat!

Professor Baker let the students discuss for a while before clapping his hands and letting the classroom return to silence. With a look of nostalgia on his face, he said:

"What was just played was the most thrilling and proudest battle in my adventure career. Although it is definitely not as good as the unprecedented duel between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, it also has a certain commemorative value."

He paused and continued, "The opponent at that time was a Greek. You may have heard of his title, 'Aethelred the Seer'. He once reigned over Greece and was a terrifying dark wizard who almost became the 'Shadow King'. His name is on the Chocolate Frog picture."

"He got that title because Aethelred is extremely cautious and well-prepared every time. When he is fully prepared, he is almost invincible. At that time, I was investigating his dark wizard organization in Greece and defeated many of his capable subordinates. So he wanted to kill me personally."

"He started laying the groundwork several months in advance, investigating my information, spreading false intelligence, sending attacks to consume my energy, and using his spies in the local Ministry of Magic to put pressure on me... He also created an extremely sinister venue as a battlefield to end my life. It is anti-Apparition, and once you enter, you cannot leave. The air is filled with toxins, and there was also a curse on the ground..."

"Fortunately, I was not completely unaware, and many of his methods were ineffective. But even so, I almost died under his traps and strong personal strength, but in the end, I still won. It was after this battle that I was awarded the honor of the director of the Dark Arts Defense League."

Looking at the excited and admiring eyes of the young wizards below the stage, Professor Baker couldn't help but reveal a smile: "Then I believe that now everyone has fully understood the charm and function of Defense Against the Dark Arts. Then, let us start our first class--"

"How to use your wand."

"Many people may be curious about what kind of course this is. Isn't using a wand just holding it, waving it according to the standard procedures, and chanting spells? This is indeed the case in daily life, but if you encounter a fierce battle, this alone is not enough."

"How should I hold the wand to be most comfortable and stable? What kind of posture should I adopt in battle to cast spells most quickly?"

"These are the most important basics of Defense Against the Dark Arts. Even experienced Aurors may not be able to fully understand the knowledge contained therein."
