Chapter 8: An Important Character

The title of True Disciple of the Supreme Dao Sect alone is enough to topple any kingdoms in the Eastern Province of the Sleeping Dragon Continent. There are only fifty True Disciples within the Supreme Dao Sect.

Their authority within the sect surpasses even that of the Elders overseeing the Inner sect. The resources and privileges they enjoy far exceed those of both Inner Sect and Core disciples.

They are granted entire mountain peaks, far larger than those of the Elders, along with numerous servant disciples from the Core and Inner sects who serve as attendants or maids. Their peaks are adorned with gardens full of rare and precious herbs.

Xu Liang wasn't just one of the top True Disciples; she was also the second Direct Disciple of Li Qin, renowned as the youngest Great Elder in the history of the Supreme Dao Sect.

This wasn't the most significant detail about her—she was one of the female leads in the novel Rising of the Supreme Sword Immortal. Her arc is set to begin in four months, just before the Inner Sect Disciple Selection Ceremony, which will take place in five months.

Before the Inner Sect Disciple Selection Ceremony, Xu Liang was returning from her trip to the outside world when she was ambushed by the Azura Dragon Sect's disciples and poisoned with an aphrodisiac.

That's when she crosses paths with the protagonist, who heals her through physical contact—lucky bastard.

The Inner Sect selects only a hundred disciples from hundreds of thousands of outer sect aspirants, with participation restricted to cultivators at Peak-Stage Qi Solidification Realm or higher.

All the Elders, including the Great Elder, will observe the fights to choose the most talented disciples as their personal apprentices.

So, if I want to become an Inner Sect disciple again, I need to reach Peak-Stage Qi Solidification Realm within five months.

"Do you know her? Big Brother Xue" Xu Yang asked waking Reon up from his thoughts.

"Of course, I know her," Reon replied to Xu Yang's question. "She's one of the Top True Disciples and the Second Direct Disciple of Great Elder Li Qin."

"Exactly! She's so talented and determined. In just five years after joining the sect, she rose to the top. And here I am, six months in, still can't get past the Qi Solidification Realm," Xu Yang sighed, his frustration evident.

Reon's face twitched at Xu Yang's words. Six months and he's complaining about not getting past Qi Solidification Realm? Meanwhile, that bastard Xue Taiyang has been stuck at Stage-1 Qi Refining Realm for two years.

Frustrated beyond words, Reon held his thoughts in silence, choosing to say nothing. Still, this boy had helped him—something no one had ever done for him in his past life. So, maybe it wasn't so bad to make a friend for the first time in a while.

"That's not the case, Xu Yang. You shouldn't give up so easily," Reon said, despite his own frustration. "Keep working hard, and you'll succeed just like your sister. Let's aim for the Inner Sect together this time."

"Woah, yes! Big Brother Xue, let's aim for it together!" Xu Yang's eyes sparkled like crystals, as if hearing those words from his own big sister, who always told him to never give up.

"Come on, let's grab something to eat," Xu Yang said, noticing it was already lunchtime.

"Yes, let's go," Reon agreed with a slight smile. "I'll cook for you as thanks for letting me rest in your home."

"Wow, Big Brother Xue knows how to cook?" Xu Yang asked, his eyes wide with surprise.

"Wait, you don't cook here?" Reon replied, a bit confused.

"No, we don't," Xu Yang explained. "We get food using the Sect's Contribution Points from the Food Making Department, called Spirit Food Serving. They have branches in every area of the sect—Outer, Inner, and even the Core Sect."

"Ah, yes, I know about Spirit Food Serving, but today, let me cook for you. Go fetch a Spirit Chicken from the Beginner's Forest," Reon said with a grin.

"Alright, Big Brother Xue!" Xu Yang nodded eagerly and dashed off to get the Spirit Chicken.

Reon watched him leave, amused. How could he forget about Spirit Food Serving, which would later cause a huge uproar in the Supreme Dao Sect? But that wasn't his concern—after all, the main character would handle it. All he needed to focus on was growing stronger.

After Xu Yang returned with the Spirit Chicken and helped cut it, Reon prepared an exquisite meal. Though he wasn't a master chef, his years of cooking as a loner—and a stint as an assistant chef at a 3-star restaurant—had honed his skills.

"Wow, Brother Xue, this is incredible! It might not be on par with Spirit Food Serving's premium dishes, but it's way better than what we outer sect disciples usually eat!" Xu Yang exclaimed, thoroughly impressed.

"I'm glad you like it," Reon said with a warm smile. "Eat to your heart's content."

As they finished their meal, they noticed a group of people approaching, all dressed in matching yellow and blue robes—distinctly different from the Outer Sect uniform.

"Fu*k! Not again…"
