Chapter 97: Am I… about to Die?

Before the voice could utter another word, Reon let out a furious scream.

"Hey, you fucking eye bastard! If you can talk and rotate me like a damn puppet, why the hell did you growl at first?!"

"You scared the shit out of me!"

The voice rumbled, but instead of irritation, there was… amusement?

"Eh? I Am Sorry, Master. I Just Wanted To Surprise You!"

Reon narrowed his eyes. "Wait, what? Why the hell are you talking to me so politely? And calling me 'Master'?"

"Who—or what—are you? And where the hell is this place?"

His voice turned sharper.

"And more importantly—what do you mean by 'Awakening Again'?"

A deep vibration pulsed through the void, shaking the space around him.

"Because I Am Your Constitution's Spirit. The One You Are About To Awaken. And You Are My Master."

"And This… Is The Space Within Your Constitution."

Reon's mind reeled. The world... inside my constitution? What does that even mean?!

But before he could question further, the voice trembled, almost as if suppressing urgency.

"I Can Only Be Present For A Few More Moments. Listen Carefully, Master."

"Soon, You Will Experience A Pain Greater Than Dying."

"Your Past Despair Will Try To Drown You In Eternal Darkness."

"But Stay Strong. Please… Do Not Give In."

The void itself seemed to hold its breath.

"AND…"

The voice wavered, an uncharacteristic hesitance breaking through its abyssal tone.

"I Will See You Again—When Your Constitution Reaches... A Certain Level."

A pause.

"Goodbye, Master."

"I Will Be... Waiting For You."

Before Reon could respond, an unseen force yanked his soul from the abyss—

—and hurled him back into his body.

.

.

Reon's eyes snapped open. His breath hitched, his chest heaving violently.

He felt like he had just been thrown from one existence into another. His limbs trembled as his mind scrambled to process what had just happened.

"Wh—What the hell was that?!"

"A spirit... of a constitution...? That… shouldn't be possible! I've never heard of a constitution possessing a damn spirit in the novel!"

[Ding! Host, it's coming!]

Reon's eyes narrowed. A moment ago, he hadn't received any notification from the system, nor had he sensed its presence within.

"Does that mean… even the system didn't know where I was?"

Then—his thoughts came to a screeching halt.

"Wait… It said 'Awakening Again'—to me, not Xue Taiyang."

A shiver ran down his spine.

"What does that mean?"

"I started cultivating only two months ago. And I didn't even know I had a constitution in the first place, let alone that I awakened it previously."

Then another realization struck him.

"Wait… it also said I was going to experience hellish pain—"

His breath caught in his throat.

Because in that instant, the gathered energy Exploded.

.

.

BOOOOOOOOOOOM!

A Cataclysmic Shockwave erupted from his body, shaking the entire region.

The air twisted and cracked as the energy raged like a berserk storm, tearing through the heavens.

Lightning arced wildly across the sky. The very Laws of the World trembled under the pressure.

A sound unlike anything mortal ears could comprehend echoed across the world—So Deep, So Profound, that even Element Refining Realm cultivators couldn't perceive it—only those above their level could hear its resonance.

The Heavens Trembled.

The Earth Groaned.

And then—

The Pain Began.

"ARRRGGGRHHHHH!"

It was unlike anything Reon had Ever Felt Before.

A scorching agony erupted from the very Core of his Being, spreading through Every Vein, Every Nerve, Every Bone.

His body Convulsed Violently, twisting in unnatural ways.

Reon collapsed to the ground and began rolling in agony.

"W-W-What the fuck is happening to me?!"

His Skull felt like it was Splitting Open, the pain so intense it blurred his vision.

"ARGGHHHHH!"

His bones Cracked and Shattered, pulling apart from his Flesh as though his entire body was Unraveling.

His heart Stopped Beating.

Blood gushed from his Eyes, Nose, Ears, and Mouth.

His body was Breaking.

His very existence was being Ripped Apart.

.

.

WUFF!

Hearing Reon's agonized screams, Cloudia's resolve shattered.

He had told them not to interfere. But this was different.

If they didn't do something—He Would Definitely Die.

Cloudia and Little Tiger rushed towards him, their forms blurring as they moved at breakneck speed.

Upon seeing Reon's state—his body convulsing violently, Bathed in his own Blood—Cloudia's heart clenched.

She didn't know what to do.

But she knew they had to do something.

GHOOFF!

Cloudia gave a silent signal to Little Tiger.

Little Tiger nodded grimly.

In an instant—

Both of them transformed into their True Forms.

.

.

Meanwhile, Reon's body Thrashed Violently, writhing in agony.

In a moment,

His Vision Completely Blurred.

His Consciousness Wavered.

"Am I… about to Die?"

His thoughts Slowed.

"Is this the... end?"

He let out a Bitter Chuckle in his mind.

"I can't believe it… I'm dying from a Mere Talent Awakening… and not even at the hands of the protagonist."

"Well… whatever. At least the two months I spent in this world were far better than the twenty empty years I endured in my previous one."

"At least, for once… I truly lived. And if this is the end—then so be it."

"I have No Regrets."

Suddenly,

His mind Drifted—

Back to the life he had before.

A Life where he was Alone, Always Alone.

A Life where he had No Family. No Relatives. No Real Friends.

A Life of Endless Struggle, where Survival itself was a Daily Battle.

With no money to his name, he saw chasing after love as a Meaningless Luxury—one he could Never Afford And Had No Right to Pursue.

It was a Fleeting Dream meant for others, Never for Him.

And so, he Never Tried.

Never Reached Out.

Never chased after something that Felt Forever out of Reach.

As the years passed, Loneliness became his Only Companion.

And in the end, he remained alone—his Heart Untouched, his life devoid of the warmth he never dared to seek.

A Life where he watched children laughing with their parents, their joy echoing like a Distant MelodyOne he could Never Be a Part Of.

He couldn't remember the last time he had Laughed.

Not because he had forgotten, but because there had been nothing to Laugh about.

His days were filled with Silence, his nights with Emptiness.

And as time passed, the warmth of joy became nothing more than a faded memory—lost in the cold, bitter reality of his existence.

A Life where he spent every single day telling himself—One Day, Things Will Change.

But Nothing Ever Changed.

And now—

Now, in a world full of Endless Possibilities

He was Dying.

How Laughable.

How Utterly, Painfully... Laughable.
