Gloria dialed Victor's number and put it on her ear, waiting for it to ring. She was happy that he had finally decided to move out, but today was one of the days when she wished he was still around. She was worried, and Elijah was not someone she would tell her worries.
"Mother." .
Gloria smiled. He had such a deep voice. "How are you, son?"
"I'm living, mother. Is everything okay? You don't sound good."
This was one of the reasons why she loved him so much. He was always able to pick up if something was wrong with her no matter how much she tried to hide her feelings from her children.
She sighed. "I'm worried about Mercy. Something is wrong. I can feel it. My spirit is not settled."
Vic chuckled. "You worry for nothing, Mother. She is fine. She just sent me one of her annoying good morning texts." He was never going to admit that those texts make his day brighter.
"That's the thing. She is only texting. She never slept without calling to say goodnight. I tried calling her number, but it always rang unanswered. Something is wrong, Vic. i can feel it."
"Okay, tell you what. I will check her tracker just to put you at ease."
**
Vic clicked on his phone, checking Mercy's tracker. He frowned, staring at the blank screen. There was supposed to be a green dot indicating her location, but there was...nothing. He took a deep breath as he tried not to panic.
"Mother, i will call you back." He quickly hung up before she could say anything else.
He rubbed his face, trying to process what he was seeing. Mercy's tracker was offline, which meant it was either damaged or... he shook his head. He didn't want to think about the other possibility. He quickly dialed one of the guards that was assigned to protect her, but the phone rang unanswered. His heart skipped a beat. That wasn't a good sign, but he still tried to remain calm. He dialed the other two, but their phones were not going through.
He gave up and dialed his tech guy, who answered on the first ring.
"Bright, i need you to track down Sol's location right now."
"On it."
Vic stood up and paced around his room, his phone on his ear. He was getting frustrated, but he avoided thinking of the worst-case scenario.
"Found it. A few meters away from Mercy's apartment."
Vic hung up and dialed a number.
"Boss."
"I need you to go to the location i have sent you right now."
"Yes, boss." He hung up and sat down on the bed, his heart beating at an abnormal pace. He sat there waiting, minutes felt like days. He paced, drank some scotch to try and calm down, and sat down again.
Over 15 minutes later, his phone rang. He quickly answered it and stood up, then paced around the room again.
"Yes." He said as soon as he pressed the answer button.
"Eish, boss. It's bad."
"Kelvin, what is it?" He snapped. He didn't have time for games.
"He is dead. All of them are. Execution style."
"Fuck!!" Victor cussed, throwing his phone against the wall. It came crumbling down, the screen looking like a spider web.
How did he let it happen? Why the fuck did he not think of checking on her. If he replied her messages or at least called, he would have known. He would have fucking known that something was wrong! How did his sister get snatched right under his fucking nose!
Vic's eyes blazed with anger and frustration as he paced around the room, his mind racing with thoughts of Mercy and the guards who had been assigned to protect her. He couldn't believe that he had let his guard down, that he had assumed that Mercy was safe. He should have known that she would never be safe, not when Elijah's claws were still buried deep in the underworld, not when they had so many enemies.
He stopped pacing and stood still, his chest bursting with anger. He needed to think. He had to come up with a plan to find Mercy and bring her home. He couldn't let his emotions cloud his judgment, not now.
Vic took a deep breath and closed his eyes, trying to calm himself down. If her guards were dead, that meant that whoever took her was a professional. Those were the best, Elijah made sure of that. That was his little princess, and he wanted her safe. Vic's eyes snapped open, and he quickly grabbed his keys and rushed out. He could feel the guilt and responsibility that weighed heavily on his shoulders. He should have been more protective of his sister. Now, she was gone, and he had no idea where she was or who had taken her or what they wanted.
He jumped his in his car, dialing Bright.
"I need you to track down Mercy's phone and her last location." He barked orders and hung up then drove off, not knowing where he was going but he needed to be out of the house. It was suffocating him, and he felt useless just sitting on his ass.

The door cracked open, snapping Mercy out of her thoughts. She quickly wiped away her tears from her puffy eyes. She was failing to come to terms with her new reality. She just couldn't wrap her mind around the fact that her boyfriend of 11 months had kidnapped her, that he was pretending to love her all this time. It was something that she couldn't just accept. How? Why? Were the questions that were tormenting her mind, but she couldn't produce an answer for them.
Tanaka walked walked in, with a tray of food in his hands. He placed it on the bed.
"Eat." He ordered, but she ignored him, not even sparing him a single glance. She could feel her hurt transforming into so much rage. If she could, she would just stab him in his dark heart. She never thought she would ever hate anyone the way she hated Tanaka.
"Fine. Starve yourself. I don't care. You will still be useful to me even if you are dead." He turned to walk out.
"My brother is going to find me." Mercy's voice came out hoarse from all the crying she had been doing.
Tanaka chuckled. "They are not going to find you, but if by any chance they manage to, i will be waiting for them." He walked out, locking the door behind him.
Mercy sighed, tears stinging her eyes, but she fought so hard not to let them fall. She had to be strong. Crying was not going to help her. She stared the plate of rice and chicken as her tummy growled. She slowly reached for it and began eating.

Tanaka sat on his chair in his study, a glass of whisky in his hand, deep in thoughts . He had spent his whole life preparing himself for this moment. He trained hard, he made connections, and his entire life was prepared for this moment. Revenge. He should be thrilled, but it didn't seem as exciting as it should have been. It just didn't feel right.
He sipped on his drink as his office door opened. Trust, his little brother walked in, a look of curiosity on his face.
"Tanaka, what's going on?" he asked when he noticed the glass of whisky in his brother's hand.
Tanaka looked up, a hint of a smile on his face. "Just enjoying a drink, Trust." he said, his voice calm. He was only 16 when he had to look after his brother. Life wasn't friendly with them, but they made it work.
Trust walked closer, narrowing his eyes. "You're not exactly the drinking type, Tanaka," he said, his voice laced with suspicion. "What's really going on?"
Tanaka sighed, setting his glass down. "I've taken care of the first part of the plan," he said, his voice low. "Mercy is in our custody."
Trust's eyes widened in surprise. "Already?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Tanaka nodded, a small smile on his lips. "Yes, already," he repeated. "And soon, we will have Elijah and Victor right in the palm of our hands then, we will crush them...slowly." his hand formed into a fist, and he squeezed it tightly, his jaws clenched with anger.
Trust's eyes sparkled with excitement. "This is going to be good," he said, a grin on his face. "We should do to her what they did to our mother." Trust said, his voice suddenly cold. He didn't know the full details. He only knew what his brother had told him, but he still shared the same anger and was more than ready to get revenge for their family.
"No!" Tanaka said, his voice firm and final. "No one touches her."
Anger flashed in Trust's eyes. "What do you mean no one touches her? This was always part of the plan!"
Tanaka knew that, but plans changed all the damn time. "Just that, Trust. She is off limits."
"You have grown soft. The few months you spent with her have changed you. Have you forgotten what we went through? Have you forgotten how we suffered? It's because of her that we are here now." Trust roared.
"She had nothing to do with it." He hissed
"But she has Elijah's blood running through her veins!"
"That doesn't mean anything. She is not her father or her brother."
Trust chuckled bitterly while shaking his head. "What happened to you? You are not my brother. I can't even stand you right now." He clicked his tongue and angrily walked out, banging the door behind him.
Tanaka sighed, gulping the last contents of his drink. He was not changing his mind. No one was going to touch her, not even his brother

Trust quietly unlocked Mercy's door, then walked in, locking it behind him. He stared at her as she slept, a cold smirk on his face. She was going to suffer the same fate as his mother. If Tanaka had no balls to do it, then he was going to do it himself and maybe pass her over to a few guards, just like Elijah did with his mother.
He unbuckled his belt and....
