Big deal

Katlyn felt weak and a little dizzy when she heard some faint voices. She remembered she was knocked out by someone. 'Who could it be and why would they do something like that to her?'

She tried to open her eyes to see where she was but chose to stay put when she heard a female voice "My daughter wouldn't have died today had I killed you back then along with that mistress mother of yours"

Katlyn was calm as if what Margaret said was not out of her expectations. She even wondered if Margaret was the one who kidnapped her.

'No wonder, Lady Layla asked for my help in a hurry. She must have already sensed danger coming upon her' Katlyn thought as she continued to hear the conversation.

"What did you say?" Lilian asked in shock. She couldn't believe what she heard just then. What did Margaret meant by killing her mother?

"It's like what I said. Everyone thought your mother died due to ill health but in truth, I poisoned her slowly to death" Margaret laughed hysterically. She recalled how she slowly poisoned Lilian's mother over a long period of time, only to make it look like her health was deteriorating. She wasn't afraid of Lilian taking revenge now, because she would soon kill her too.

Lilian slumped to the ground in shock. Her mother was murdered by Margaret Barlow. But for what reason?

Even Katlyn was stunned. She never expected Margaret Barlow to be this sinister. She, herself was just a child when she started working for Barlow family. But, she was sharp minded and witty. She always felt Margaret hated Lady Layla. Was it because the Master had been more favorable towards Lady Layla than her?

"You..." Before Lilian could gather her strength and move, a slap hit her face.

"Now, I'll show you how it feels to see your beloved people die right in front of you" Margaret said as she laughed with pure madness in her eyes.

"No...Mother. Please...don't.." Lilian cried at the top of her lungs. Katlyn Morgan did nothing wrong. Even if it was a mere wish, it was her who wished death upon Amelia.

Katlyn was horrified. What was Margaret trying to do now?

"Mother, please don't hurt her. Katlyn is innocent.." Katlyn immediately opened her eyes and almost yelped hearing Lilian's cries. So, it was really Margaret who abducted her to use her against Lilian.

Margaret was too aggressive and furious like a mad dog to notice that Katlyn had already regained her conscious. She didn't bother to even take a look at the young woman on the ground as she threw a lantern onto her body.

Lilian cried tears with her heart full of fury, pain, guilt and sadness as she watching Margaret walk upto Katlyn.

She mumbled in between her sobs "Katlyn... I'm sorry. It's all because of me that you are like this now. I can't let you suffer like this. If I can take all your pain, I'll happily do it. If there's a next life, I'll take better care of you..."

Within a second, her skin turned red with a burning sensation. She thought she was on fire and wondered if hot lava was flowing through her veins. It was like every cell in her body shook and was torn apart and all she could feel was endless pain.

Katlyn noticed Margaret approach her and before she knew, she felt an metal object fall on her belly.

She was worried all this while that she had failed to complete the favour asked by Lady Layla. If this was what her end looks like, she would happily accept it. This way, the paper and hair strand would be burned along with her.

Katlyn closed her eyes as she expected excruciating pain to spread to every corner of her body. But pain was the last thing she felt.

As if something magical was protecting her, she felt nothing even when the flames burnt her skin and consumed her. Perhaps, the gods were on her side. She thanked the heavens, she had very low pain tolerance.

Just like that, her friend Katlyn Morgan was burned to death before her eyes. Despite the burning feeling and the pain making her senseless, her heart was ignited with anger.

Angry with herself for being so helpless. Angry with the people who made her life miserable.

Angry with the man who broke her heart. Angry with the woman who killed her mother and only friend.

At the moment, she was worried about nothing. She only wished for one thing. She cursed in her head for Margaret and Vincent to die in the most cruel way possible.

Lilian heard Vincent Levine say "Lilian, this is what you get for killing your sister"

She noticed Vincent gaze at her with a bone chilling smirk on his face.

Before she could wrap her head around what was happening, she heard a horse galloping and her whole body was pulled, then dragged on the rough ground.

Lilian then understood that her life's about to come to an end.

Had she known loving Vincent would only bring her heartache, she would've never taken a second look at him.

"If love is what breaks me, then love shall be the last thing I feel for a man. No matter the number of lives I live, no man would get to own my heart" she mumbled, with her face twisted in pain.

Margaret and Vincent watched as the black horse ran across the forest as it dragged Lilian along with it before blending into the darkness.

The horse ran deep into the forest when a faint golden glow arose from Lilian's head. Soon, it spread throughout her body.

She illuminated like a firework, making her surroundings bright as a day.

This made the horse terrified as it sensed danger from behind and it instantly feigned death.

...

"Are you sure she's the one?" A young boy asked in confusion as he gazed at the woman in tattered clothes and bloody bruises on her body.

"Yes, my dear. She's the chosen one" The old woman said with sympathy and pity in her eyes as she untied the ropes around the girl's arms and legs.

The old woman was sure of it. She could feel it. The message she received in her dreams a while ago was indeed about this young lady.

The little boy sneered with mockery. This pitiful woman was their family's saviour. For god sake, someone please tell him it's not the truth.

He had never seen someone in a more terrible situation than hers. She couldn't save herself from tragedy, how could she save them?

The old woman placed her palm on Lilian's forehead. The old woman's expression changed with every passing second as Lilian's memories passed through her head.

Not only was this young girl mistreated by her family, her heart was also broken by a man. She also learnt that her mother was murdered and saw her friend die before her eyes.

Most importantly, she just activated her powers but already cursed three people to death.

Her soul was filled with so much darkness and every possible negative emotion pooled inside her heart.

She might cause more destruction given her strong hatred towards this world.

Also, she cursed herself to never fall in love. How stupid?

How could she live a proper life if she had no idea how beautiful it feels to be in love?

The old woman sighed staring at the pitiful girl. She had to do something even if it meant she's breaking the heavenly laws.

There's always a second chance. She would make sure the young girl gets another chance in love.

The little boy observed the old woman as she muttered some gibberish with her eyes closed, while dripping blood from her fingers on the ground. He wasn't bothered with what this old witch was doing.

He was only eager to eat the delicious food his brother promised him for bringing this girl to their place.

He smacked his lips as he thought of food. He then turned around to see the unconscious horse. Would he get more food if he brought this horse along with the woman to his place?

"Now, dig a pit nearby. We need to bury her" The old woman said as she clapped her hands. She looked so pale and weak, a gust of wind could make her collapse.

"What?! What did you say? Are we not taking her with us?" The little boy was stunned. What would happen to his food if he failed to bring her with him?

"She suffered a lot. It's impossible to rescue her now. You should wait till she's reborn" The old woman said nonchalantly.

"Wait till she's reborn?! When will that be?" If its within the next few days, he could wait.

"I don't know. In a few years, few decades or a few centuries. It's not a big deal" The old woman said as if it wouldn't bother them to wait a few more years as they already waited for many centuries.

The little boy was almost slumped to the ground.

"A few centuries?!" She must be joking, right? How could it not be a big deal?
