First rule

Everyone else was shocked. Melinda had her jaw dropped with her heart beat increasing rapidly.

'But, why should she shelter these immortals? She wanted to leave this world calmly and without regrets. She thought she could live a peaceful life in her last days. If she had to accomodate these people in her house, would she even get a chance to think atleast about the letter P in the word Peace?' Melinda lost her footing and almost slumped down to the ground.

And why would he, the master would live in his subordinate's house when he could move into his friends' houses?

Francis had his eyes glued to Lucien's face, checking if the other person was joking.

Did this legendary Lucien Kingsley decided to give up his secluded life and enjoy the outside world? Just like this?

What happened to the rules he made for himself centuries ago. The rules to never live among humans, never feed on them, and no killing of a human. The last and most important rule to never turn others into his kind.

Was Lucien breaking the first rule now?

Alivia almost cried in happiness. She was just a eighteen year old girl who never had the pleasure of making friends because of her sickening secluded life. She didn't even get the privilege to be in love and go on a romantic date with a handsome guy.

Would her dreams finally come true?

Derek was even more excited. He could enjoy tasty food and eat lots of chocolates and ice creams. He's sick of his big brother's awful cooking.

"Lord Lucien, I have a suggestion. Lord Sebastian has a better house than me. Even Lord Francis has his own place that could accommodate more than ten people. Why don't you choose their places to live?" Melinda finally picked up her courage and said, though her hands were still trembling in fear he would reject her suggestion.

"Alright, then" Realising Melinda's suggestion was not bad, Lucien thought for a moment to decide who's place would be better for him to live.

Derek immediately raised his hand with twinkling eyes "How about Brother Sebastian's house? His girlfriend Anya's cooking is the best"

Alivia also nodded her head with a bright smiling face. Although she met Anya very recently, they had a good time together. Anya was the only person whom she could call as her friend. She hoped to live with Anya too.

"No.." Lucien's single word reply made the smiles on Alivia and Derek's face to disappear. They clutched Lucien's arms, one on each side wailing in protest.

"Please, please. Let's go live in Brother Sebastian's house. I'll convince him" Derek said with a pitiful look with a thought in his mind 'No one could reject me after seeing my pitiful face unless he's heartless'

"Big Brother, our good brother. Pretty please" Alivia looked at Lucien with her puppy eyes and pouted her lips looking like a cute doll.

"We can't disturb a couple. We'll go to Francis's house" Lucien gave his ultimate decision staring at Francis's frozen face and walked away. Agreeing to leave the castle was already a great feat on his part. He couldn't agree to every request made by his siblings. He wouldn't spoil them by giving extra preference to their choices. As the eldest of them all, he had the right to make the decision for all of them.

Everyone was upset except Melinda. She heaved in relief as if she escaped from a great calamity.

She hated to say the truth that she didn't want to worry about them wrecking havoc given their insensible minds and old fashioned thoughts.

They're not her children. So, they're not her problem. She would be very much happy if someone else took them in.

Francis pulled his hair in anger and helplessness. Why would Lucien never ask for his opinions or take his feelings into consideration before making decisions?

Why should it be him to make sacrifices everytime?

Questioning or Fighting with Lucien was not an option. Lucien's a capable person and could defeat him in a single strike.

He's nothing before a Royal Vampire who casually went on a killing spree for fun in his early days.

He might be a vampire hunter who was supposed to hunt down vampires. But when it came to Lucien, friendship and brotherhood comes before duty. He couldn't bring himself to hurt Lucien.

He could handle Alivia and Derek to some extent. They're somewhat sensible and considerate. But there's no way he could manage Lucien. It's impossible.

Holding his head in defeat, Francis thought of ways to prevent Lucien from leaving the castle.

The next day, Melinda left the castle and went back to her own house. She searched online to look for the forest area to find out that it comes under a town called Scarlet Hills and there's actually a prestigious Private University located in the area.

If her guess was correct, then the person with magical powers could be a student or a professor in that university.

Melinda concluded it would be better to discuss the matter in person. She decided to wait until Lucien and others come out of the forest and settle down in Francis's house.

For her, going back into the forest again was a great hassle. It was unnecessary just to relay some simple information.

For now, Melinda had to look into the person she located.

She was the only one with powers in her family in her family after her great grandmother.

Even among her children, only her daughter Clara got powers while her son Peter knew nothing about magic.

Wondering it could be someone from her extended family with whom she wasn't in touch, Melinda picked out all the family albums and photos she saved for years.

Reminiscing her past, she screened every single picture, smiling.

After an hour of searching, she found a photo hidden in an album containing her son's photos from college.

She saw a young couple in the picture. It was a woman dressed in yellow gown and her son in a tuxedo. Melinda stared at the young woman in the picture like she was frozen.
