Next Day
Konoha – Jōnin Meeting Room
The meeting room was filled with Konoha's senior Jōnin: Jiraiya, Tsunade, Fugaku, Kakashi, Hiashi Hyuga, Shikaku Nara, Inoichi Yamanaka, Asuma Sarutobi, and others.
"Lady Tsunade, are you seriously giving up the position of Fifth Hokage?" Shikaku Nara asked, looking surprised.
Tsunade leaned back in her chair, lazily gazing out the window with half-closed, drunken eyes. "Hokage? Nah, I don't want the job. Too troublesome. If Uchiha wants it, let them have it. I heard the kid got my grandfather's approval anyway." She waved her hand dismissively.
Jiraiya sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I knew I shouldn't have expected her to take responsibility..." he thought, his expression grim.
Despite having anticipated this response, Jiraiya couldn't help but feel exasperated.
"But Uchiha Sako is too young!" Asuma interjected. "Her rank is only Chūnin, and the Hokage has to handle numerous complex matters both inside and outside the village. With her mentality, I doubt she can manage the job!"
At this, Fugaku's face darkened. His scarlet Mangekyō Sharingan glowed ominously as he swept his gaze across the room. "Have you forgotten our agreement?" he growled, his tone icy.
"What a headache!" Jiraiya sighed, looking toward Kakashi. "Fine. According to the agreement, you can act as a temporary Fifth Hokage. We'll address Sako's candidacy later," he relented.
Jiraiya and Kakashi had discussed this scenario the night before. If Tsunade refused the role, they would propose Naruto instead. However, Kakashi harbored concerns about Uchiha leadership due to his experiences with Obito. Furthermore, Naruto's growing strength and his connections with the Akatsuki made him a more favorable candidate to counterbalance the Uchiha clan's ambitions.
"No, we've changed our minds!" Fugaku interrupted sharply. His tone carried a commanding authority. "Since Sako is destined to become Hokage eventually, let's make her the Fifth Hokage now. If you're concerned, we can establish a Hokage Advisory Group to assist her with daily responsibilities."
The bold suggestion shocked the room.
"What?!"
"Absolutely not!" Jiraiya and Kakashi exclaimed in unison, their chakra surging in response to Fugaku's assertive stance.
The room grew tense. Fugaku's Sharingan glinted menacingly, and the faint outline of a Susano'o loomed over him. The Uchiha elite standing behind him mirrored his defiance.
Kakashi, unshaken, activated his Lightning Blade, his body crackling with electricity. "Does Uchiha think they have the strength to bring Konoha to its knees?" he retorted coldly.
The tension reached a boiling point, with both sides ready to clash.
Suddenly, a laugh echoed from the doorway, cutting through the suffocating atmosphere.
"Yo! What's with all the excitement?"
Everyone turned to see Naruto and Sako standing at the entrance. Two overwhelming presences filled the room, silencing all chatter. The oppressive aura wasn't violent, but its sheer weight was undeniable. Even the legendary Sannin, Jiraiya, felt the pressure.
"Naruto, Sako? Why are you here?" Kakashi asked, his surprise evident.
Ignoring the question, Naruto stepped forward and announced confidently, "I fully support Sako becoming the Fifth Hokage. I trust no one here has any objections?"
Kakashi's eyes widened, his mind reeling. Naruto... siding with Sako? After all their plans?
"Naruto, are you serious?!" Jiraiya asked, disbelief written all over his face.
Naruto nodded calmly. "It's true that Sako lacks experience," he acknowledged. "But Jiraiya-sensei, Tsunade-sama, and Kakashi-sensei, you three will form a Hokage Advisory Group to guide and support her. That should resolve any concerns, right?"
Tsunade, smirking, immediately raised her hand in approval.
Jiraiya and Kakashi exchanged a glance and could only silently nod in agreement.
This way, Naruto wouldn't be completely aligned with the Uchiha clan. There was no other choice—Naruto's strength alone could crush anyone who disagreed.
"If that's the case, then it's settled.
Uchiha Sako, Jōnin, I'll go submit the application to the Fire Country Daimyo.
In a few days, we'll begin preparing for the succession ceremony!"
Jiraiya nodded reluctantly, raising Sako's ninja rank by one level. At least, having Sako as a Jōnin would sound better than her being a Chūnin when she became Hokage.
"Master Jiraiya, how can you be so hasty..."
Asuma, who didn't understand Naruto's power, immediately objected.
The others—Lu Jiu, Hiashi, and the rest—watched in silence, their eyes shining with curiosity. They didn't fully understand why Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Kakashi gave in to Naruto so easily, but they knew that their opinions didn't matter anymore.
It was only Asuma, the hot-headed one, who stepped forward to voice his concerns.
Fugaku and the other Uchiha clan members glared at Asuma, their Sharingan eyes blazing.
"Asuma, be silent..."
Seeing the tension escalate, Kakashi quickly moved to Asuma's side and whispered urgently.
With Naruto's support, Sako's rise to the position of Fifth Hokage was already a done deal. Any further objections would only cause more trouble with the Uchiha.
"Everyone..."
Sako, now in control of the situation, spoke up. "I know some of you might disagree with me. But there's no use in talking any longer. I'll show you with my actions, and make you recognize me."
Her Sharingan eyes flared as she unleashed a wave of powerful chakra, asserting her strength.
Naruto...
Are you sure this isn't just adding fuel to the fire?
Sako thought, but then realized the situation was already beyond saving.
"Naruto, please, let that guy out!"
Sako, realizing her earlier words might have sounded too extreme, turned to Naruto and spoke more softly. "I need to do this. I need to confront Uchiha's reputation."
She knew that Obito had been captured, and now, surrounded by all the senior Jōnin, Sako intended to clear up the doubts surrounding the Nine Tails incident.
"Fine."
Naruto gave her an unexpected look, but agreed. "I thought you were going to wait until you became Hokage to address this."
With a shrug, Naruto activated his Kamui ability and pulled the bound Obito out of the Kamui space.
Obito had once been a member of the Akatsuki, and while there had been no reason to interrogate him earlier, he could now serve to clear Uchiha's name.
"This man is the one who caused the Nine Tails Rebellion and killed the Fourth Hokage and his wife."
Sako stood tall and pointed directly at Obito. Her voice rang out with authority.
"For a long time, people suspected that Uchiha had released the Nine Tails. Some were even convinced of it. But that's completely wrong.
This man, Obito, is from the Uchiha clan—but his actions were his own. They were not the actions of Uchiha as a whole.
Obito was once the disciple of the Fourth Hokage. It was he who initiated the Nine Tails attack and led to the downfall of the Uchiha clan."
Sako's anger was palpable. She had always held a deep resentment for Obito's role in Uchiha's destruction.
"Kakashi... tell me...
Is she still alive?"
Obito, ignoring the wrathful glares of Sako and the other Jōnin, turned to Kakashi with a frantic expression. "Kakashi... is she still alive?"
