Ryota Yamazaki is a Japanese aircraft pilot recruited to become a fighter pilot, sent on a mission to dominate China. He becomes a significant figure in the warfare for power between two major nations on the Asian continent.

Ryota's involvement in Japan's mission to conquer China entangles him in the complexities of romance and nationalism. He falls in love with Jiao Fen, a volunteer on the Chinese medical team—a young woman who dedicates her life to aiding victims of Japanese colonial violence in her homeland. Jiao desperately seeks freedom for her country and demands that the Japanese forces withdraw from her land.

The difference in their nationalities becomes a major barrier between their love-stricken hearts. Japan and China are locked in a struggle for power, making it seemingly impossible for them to pursue a relationship due to the deeply ingrained nationalistic sentiments in their souls.

Will they unite and pursue love despite their national differences? Or will they choose to suppress their feelings to defend their countries and their national pride, for fear of being branded as traitors?

LOVE PROMISES

Fire set the night sky ablaze. Black smoke curled up from the burning forest, illuminating the blood-soaked battlefield and the cries of the wounded. The scattered remains of soldiers both rebel fighters and Japanese troops lay among the trees and underbrush. Amid the roaring flames and chaos, Li Feng still knelt beside Xiao Dre’s body, now limp and powerless in his arms. 


“Xiao Dre… hold on…” Li Feng’s voice was hoarse, his hand trembling as he pressed against the blood-soaked wound in his friend’s belly. 


Xiao Dre managed a faint smile, even though his lips had turned blue. “I… am not afraid to die… But promise me… don’t let this sacrifice be in vain. You must fight on, Feng.” 


Chen rushed forward, grinding his teeth as he saw blood pouring from Dre’s wound. “We have to get him to safety now!”
