A DAY OF SILENCE

Ari woke up the next morning, feeling the weight of yesterday's emotions still pressing down on her. The rain had stopped, but the sky outside was still overcast, matching her mood perfectly. She lay there, cocooned in her bed, staring blankly at the curtains drawn across her window. The soft light filtering through them did little to lift her spirits, and for what seemed like hours, she just lay there, lost in her thoughts.

Everything felt heavy. Her limbs, her heart, even the air around her seemed dense, as if it was pressing down on her chest. She couldn’t bring herself to move, let alone get out of bed and face the world. It felt easier to just lie there, to let the silence wash over her, and hope that maybe, if she stayed still long enough, the pain would eventually fade.
