Ari woke up sluggishly to the loud, persistent ringing of her alarm. With a groan, she turned it off and was about to roll over to catch a few more minutes of sleep when it hit her—she had an early flight. She shot up in bed, suddenly wide awake, her mind racing. “How could I almost forget?” she thought, quickly jumping out of bed. She rushed to the bathroom for a quick shower, grateful that she hadn’t overslept.
The thought of going back home to London filled her with a strange mix of relief and excitement. She had so much to catch up on, especially meeting the so-called Jason, the family friend’s son her mother had spoken so highly of. Ari wasn’t exactly looking forward to it, but she was curious. Besides, her mother seemed determined to introduce them. But most of all, she was relieved that she wouldn’t have to face Leo for at least a few days. She needed time—time to sort through the mess of emotions he had stirred up in her again.
