PROLOGUE

Mia and Alex remained on the terrace, lost in each other’s company, while Ari and Jason had settled into a comfortable space of laughter and banter in the sitting room. 


But in the lounge, the elders were gathered, their conversation a stark contrast to the playful exchanges of the younger generation. Ari’s mother, Lillian, sat at the head of the small, cozy group, her usual warm demeanor replaced by an air of seriousness. Across from her, Jason and Alex's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, was engaged in a hushed but tense conversation with her husband, David. 


Lillian leaned in, her voice barely above a whisper. "I think it’s time we discuss the matter we’ve been avoiding."
