Chapter 3 Thousand Hands Between the Doors

The mansion where Senju Hashirama lives is located on the southern side of Konoha Village.

To the north of Konoha is a cliff, with the village expanding from its base. To the west, a dense forest is home to clans like the Hyuga, Sarutobi, and Inuzuka. To the southeast, Senju Tobirama founded the ninja school.

The eastern part of the village belongs to the Uchiha, stretching to the Minamiga River—where a young Sasuke once practiced his Fire Style jutsu, hoping for praise from his father, Fugaku. Though technically, all are united under the village, the Uchiha clan's territory is clearly marked. In theory, they are all comrades in Konoha, but in practice, it's well known that the Uchiha are ostracized. Everyone in the village is aware of this.

In the evening, Yuya returned to the Senju mansion, carrying his backpack.

"I'm back," Yuya said, slipping off his shoes and setting down his backpack.

Silence.

This was strange. In the past, Uzumaki Mito would greet him with a smile, saying, "You're back," before telling him to wash up for dinner. But today, the house was unusually quiet.

Confused, Yuya slipped on his indoor slippers and hurried through the entrance to the main hall.

"Master's wife? Are you here?" he called, pushing open the wooden door.

He froze at the sight before him.

Uzumaki Mito sat calmly at a desk, sipping tea. While Mito was always kind to Yuya, something else caught his attention.

Another figure was in the room.

White-haired, with blood-red eyes that could be mistaken for an Uchiha's—though without the Sharingan—sat Senju Tobirama, the younger brother of Hashirama and the current Second Hokage.

Eight years after Konoha was founded, Hashirama passed the title of Hokage to Tobirama, setting an example for future leaders. Officially, Tobirama's succession was through a referendum, but in truth, there was no real competition. Who else but Tobirama could have been chosen to be the Second Hokage at the time?

Uchiha Madara? He was always brooding, and although strong, he couldn't surpass Hashirama in strength or Tobirama in ninjutsu development. Why choose him?

Tobirama's ability to develop new, powerful jutsu made him the obvious choice. Madara, by comparison, had little to offer.

Of course, Yuya would never say these thoughts aloud.

"Where were you today?" Tobirama asked calmly, his gaze fixed on Yuya.

Yuya smiled nervously. "The master gave me a day off, so I went to play in the woods to the west of the village."

Tobirama's red eyes stared unflinchingly. "Just playing?"

Yuya shrank back. "I swear, I was just playing…"

Tobirama narrowed his eyes. "You know the consequences of lying to me."

Yuya was silent for a moment before bursting into tears. "Waaah! That's mine! You're stealing from me! My gold! My precious gold!"

Tobirama rolled his eyes. "Be quiet."

Yuya pouted, watching Tobirama with teary eyes as he weighed the gold from Yuya's backpack.

"This is about ten kilograms. If there were thirty... Hey, you're wandering around Konoha with a backpack full of gold, and you're not worried about getting kidnapped?" Tobirama's tone was serious, but he couldn't help a smirk.

Ten kilograms of gold—converted to money, that was over 50 million ryo. Enough to pay two hundred Jonin for a month, including bonuses.

The problem? There weren't even that many Jonin in Konoha! Fifty million could build a bridge, or buy enough cement to pave roads. The benefits to the village would be enormous.

Still, Tobirama glanced at Yuya's tear-filled eyes and felt a little guilty. He wasn't one to steal from a child, but Yuya couldn't be allowed to carry that much gold around.

After a moment, Tobirama spoke. "I'll tell you what. In exchange for the gold, I'll teach you a new ninjutsu."

Yuya's tears disappeared instantly. Tobirama was momentarily taken aback. Was the kid faking it?

Tobirama sighed. No matter—he had the gold, and it was real, not a trick Yuya pulled with a bloodline ability.

"What kind of ninjutsu? Is it S-rank?" Yuya asked, his eyes sparkling with excitement.

Tobirama chuckled and ruffled Yuya's hair. "No S-rank jutsu for you. Not yet. But come to school tomorrow, and I'll take you to the training grounds in the back."

Excited, Yuya rushed off to wash up for dinner. Mito, though quiet, felt pleased. Yuya wasn't just playing around—he had clear goals, which made her happy. Still, she wished he could be as carefree as Tsunade.

Meanwhile, Tobirama held the gold, sighing. If only Yuya had been born fifteen years earlier, he thought. Konoha would be in a much better place.

With a wry smile, Tobirama bid Mito farewell and left the mansion.

The next day, in the Hokage's office:

"Boom!"

A loud crash echoed through the room. Senju Hashirama stormed in, his face furious.

"You jerk! You took all the gold yesterday! You didn't leave any for me! How could you, as my brother, do that?!"

Tobirama's face paled. "Idiot! Don't shout that here!"

Hashirama blinked. "Huh? Why?"

Tobirama's already pale face turned even whiter.

Ten minutes later:

The sound of footsteps echoed as a crowd rushed to the office door.

"Hokage-sama! We heard you found a gold mine! Are we rich now? The Akimichi clan would like to request funding for... ah, I mean, to train our Multi-Size Jutsu!"

"Hokage-sama! Can we finally be compensated for the villa that got demolished by the Sarutobi clan's expansion?"

"Hokage-sama! The Hyuga clan wishes to inquire when this year's ninja subsidies will be distributed."

"Hokage-sama! The Inuzuka clan requests funding to improve our police dog breeding program!"

"Hokage-sama!"

"Hokage-sama!"

Tobirama sat, pale and overwhelmed, while Hashirama quietly slipped out, wiping the sweat from his forehead.

Phew, he thought. I forgot how these guys act when money's involved.

Well, his brother was the Hokage now. Let him deal with it.

As he strolled toward the commercial district, Hashirama whistled. His brother could handle the chaos—after all, he was the Second Hokage.

---

I've made some adjustments to the original plot. Instead of Uchiha Madara confronting his own clan, I've changed it to him believing that Tobirama would inevitably target the Uchiha once he became Hokage. Madara foresaw the tension and tried to warn his clan, but they wanted to integrate into Konoha. Feeling isolated and betrayed by his own people, Madara's mentality broke. His frustration wasn't just with his clan—it was with the entire village. Believing that Tobirama would endanger the Uchiha, Madara left Konoha, eventually returning to challenge Hashirama. But it was a battle he would ultimately lose.
