Chapter 4 Sarutobi Hiruzen

In a classroom at the ninja school, Yuya boasted loudly to his classmates, recounting a wild tale: "I charged right in! Grabbed the tiger by the tail! Then I threw it away! But it came back at me, so I slid under it and gutted it with a kunai! Then I roasted it and ate it!"

He was clearly enjoying fooling the younger kids, who listened in awe.

"Alright, alright, that's enough about your tiger hunting! Sit down, Yuya, it's time for class!" A young man entered the room, smiling as he addressed the students. He lifted his forehead protector and introduced himself, "Your teacher Mito is feeling unwell today, so I'll be covering the lesson."

Yuya looked at the girl next to him and whispered, "Who's this guy? He looks so young, probably just a genin."

The girl, Hinata Kazuko, had long black hair, pale skin, and unsettling colorless eyes. She sighed in boredom, resting her chin in her hand. "Who knows? He's probably just another boring grown-up."

The young man on the podium, Sarutobi Hiruzen, froze for a second after overhearing the comment, but he smiled and continued, "My name is Sarutobi Hiruzen. Let's all settle down and get started."

However, seeing that he seemed easygoing, the children grew even rowdier. Yuya and Kazuko joined in, making mischief with the rest of the class. Books and bags started flying across the room.

Unable to control the chaos any longer, Sarutobi Hiruzen finally shouted, "Enough! Quiet down, everyone!" With a swift motion, he performed an Earth Release jutsu, causing small stone platforms to rise from the floor beneath each child, confining them.

"Whoa, cool!" Yuya exclaimed, amazed by the display of ninjutsu.

Sarutobi Hiruzen then proceeded with the lesson, and by the end of the day, the ninja school dismissed the students. Yuya declined several invitations to play in the woods and instead headed toward the Hokage's office, located at the base of the cliff in Konoha Village.

When he arrived, he found a crowd of older men gathered outside the office, all eagerly waiting for something. Recognizing Yuya as Senju Hashirama's apprentice and Tobirama's nephew, they refrained from expressing their impatience too loudly.

Konoha had grown significantly since its founding, thanks to the cooperation of families like the Inuzuka, Sarutobi, Hyuga, and Aburame clans. While the Senju and Uchiha clans were powerful, they weren't self-sufficient, relying heavily on the village's resources. The major families had contributed greatly to the village's development, but now there were rumors that Tobirama had discovered a gold mine.

The prospect of newfound wealth stirred excitement. They had all struggled together in the early days, but now that there was talk of riches, they didn't want to be left out.

Knowing he couldn't enter the office yet, Yuya sat outside, waiting patiently. Meanwhile, inside the office, Senju Tobirama was addressing the clan heads of the Hyuga, Sarutobi, and Shimura families.

"I swear, it's just ten kilograms of gold! Where did this rumor about a whole vein come from? Who's spreading these lies?" Tobirama was exasperated, frustrated that a small find had been blown out of proportion.

Seeing Tobirama's sincerity, the clan heads felt slightly embarrassed. They had rushed over, fearing the gold might be distributed unfairly, but now it seemed there was no grand fortune after all.

Tobirama explained that the gold would be used to build a bridge across the water swamp west of Konoha. The wetland area held valuable herbs and seasonal crops, but the lack of infrastructure made it difficult to access these resources. Building a bridge would benefit the entire village, allowing everyone to gather those resources more easily.

The clan heads had no objections to this use of the funds. As long as the money wasn't being handed out to just one family, they were satisfied.

Once Tobirama had reassured the major clans, he addressed the other families waiting outside, finally managing to send them on their way. As he left the office, he spotted Yuya asleep against the wall.

With a small smile breaking through his usually serious demeanor, Tobirama picked Yuya up and carried him on his shoulder. He had promised to teach Yuya ninjutsu, and he intended to keep that promise.
