Chapter 5. "What does he fear?"

Till felt his mind descend into a strange fog as the words left his mouth before he could control it.

"Kit Hunter is my closest friend, I've known him my entire life. He's the only man I've ever loved." He responded in a clear monotone voice.

Major Erik raised his eyebrow delicately, "Oh. So that's how it is…and does he reciprocate that?"

"No. He's been raised to hate people like me. His mother is controlling, he does everything she says now, he thinks the way she tells him to."

"Now? But not before?" The Major continued to stare into Till's eyes as his voice reverberated inside of his head with a deep resonance.

Till nodded blankly, his eyes unfocused, "Since his father died."

'Why am I saying all of this? Why can't I stop? I can't stop.'

The vampire's lips curled up in delight, "Interesting…and tell me, what is he most afraid of?"
