Chapter 101. Confirmation

"Hi Cas, how are you? Oh I'm great Mr. Acheron, thanks for asking." A tired but pleasant, male voice, laced with sarcasm replied and Ezra sighed frustratedly.

"Hello Casimir, thank you for all you do for me, how have you been?" Ezra asked in a deadpan voice, through gritted teeth.

"Ah, much better, but please no need to be so formal, it's you I'm scared shitless of, not the other way around." Ezra heard the sound of a door closing softly as Cas mumbled back, and switched the commlink feed over to video.

"Cas, are you stalling because you don't want to tell me the results?" Ezra asked coldly, and observed the nervous twitch in the young vampire's bright ruby eyes, pushing his short bleached-blonde hair out of his eyes in a nervous gesture.

After serving with his father in the military, Ezra had known Casimir Starr for the entirety of the young vampire's life. And yet, both he and his father had kept a wary distance.
