This novel starts intentionally slow through the exposition and world building, everything kicks into gear after the turning point in the latter half of Volume 1, and especially Volume 2, where the tone of the novel shifts. So, I hope you stick with it and enjoy the wild ride!

"Ezra! Put me down! NOW!" Love wrenched herself from his grasp as he leapt onto the platform.

He had carried her away from the collapsed tunnel and back to the entrance without a word whilst Love had attempted to fight herself free.

As soon as her feet touched the ground, Love turned away from him and jumped back onto the tracks, but he appeared in front of her in the next moment, barring her way.

"What are you doing, Love?" Ezra tried to raise his hand to touch her face but she roughly pushed his hand away,

"Going back." She replied coldly, side-stepping him to continue back the way they came.

"No. The tunnel isn't stable. It's not safe." He moved in front of her once more and held her arms back in a vice-like grip.

"Get off me!" Love pulled against his hands and attempted to shift the energy in her chest to boost her strength but Ezra barely shifted an inch.
