A mistake?

CHAPTER FORTY-ONE

SIN-NATION EMPIRE

Sarah sat alone in the dining hall, absentmindedly pushing her food around her plate. She had tried speaking to Valerie, but the woman kept avoiding her. She had wanted to thank Xavier for saving her life, but he was avoiding everyone—including her.

The past few days had been so quiet.

That alone was unsettling.

A shadow fell over her table, pulling her from her thoughts.

"Mind if I join you?"

Sarah looked up, startled. Giulia stood there, her expression uncertain. The last time they had spoken, Giulia had accused her of stealing Xavier's gold.

Now, she was here—looking apologetic.

Sarah hesitated before nodding. "Sure."

Giulia sat across from her, poking at her food. "I wanted to talk to you about what happened before."

Sarah remained silent, watching her closely.
