CHAPTER FIFTY-FOUR

"Tsk, tsk." She feigned disappointment. "I expected more from the infamous Xavier Adrian. Look at you now—beaten, chained up, completely at our mercy."

Xavier's expression remained unreadable, but his eyes burned with hatred.

Ria leaned in closer, whispering near his ear. "Doesn't it make you feel pathetic?"

Silence.

Pedro's jaw ticked. He wanted a reaction—anger, fear, something. But Xavier gave them nothing.

"Still as arrogant as ever," Pedro muttered before his lips curled into a sneer. "Let's see how long that lasts."

He grabbed a chair and straddled it backward, resting his arms on the top. "You see, Adrian, this—" he gestured around, "—is payback. Our payback." His voice dropped to a dangerous growl. "For the men you and your dogs slaughtered."

Xavier remained still, his fingers curling into fists against the armrests.
