Xavier's eyelids fluttered open, the dim glow of the room making him squint slightly. His body ached, the lingering effects of the fire still clinging to him, but none of that mattered.

Because the first thing he saw was her.

Sarah. For now, she's one of the best things that has ever happened to him. He has never seen someone who wasn't related to him care so much to die for him. He just couldn't stop staring at her

She was lying beside him, her face inches from his, her breathing soft and steady. Strands of her hair fell over her face, her lips slightly parted. She looked peaceful—too peaceful for someone who had just run into a burning building like a damn lunatic.

Xavier let out a slow exhale, his gaze locking onto her lips.

Why the hell was he thinking about her lips right now?
