Chapter 7: That Bald Guy

Early the next morning, Finney was both excited and nervous as he prepared to test the power of the Demonic Armor. Although Skye wanted to tag along, he ultimately refused, unsure of how the ability would work.

He rode his bike to a remote area on the outskirts of town. Once, it had been a small factory, but it had long since been abandoned. Finney had stumbled upon it by accident and transformed it into his secret base.

Sometimes, he would come here to get rid of excess Purple Chicken Wraps or test how far he could push the reality-altering powers of the Golden Great Evolution Technique.

After unlocking the door, Finney carefully checked the surroundings to make sure there was nothing unusual before preparing to begin the test.

Standing in the wide, open space, he took a deep breath and called out in a low voice:

"Demonic Armor!"

A silver sword, its hilt wrapped in chains and its blade embedded with a red gemstone, appeared from thin air, radiating a menacing aura as it hovered in front of Finney.

The question of whether a skill could harm him was something Finney had considered ever since the Golden Great Evolution Technique first succeeded.

He still remembered the blinding headache it had caused. Seven-year-old Finney had needed two months to fully recover.

Instinctively, Finney felt that the system wouldn't harm him, at least not with the skills it provided. Just like the Golden Great Evolution Technique, which he couldn't use as a newborn but gradually grew stronger with age.

So, staring at the dangerous-looking Demonic Armor, Finney wasn't afraid. His gut told him that, at worst, the skill just wouldn't activate.

Without hesitation, Finney reached out and gripped the silver hilt.

Instantly, a surge of energy exploded from the red gemstone, enveloping him. A massive figure in gleaming silver armor appeared behind him, stretching out its hands as if to embrace him.

He could faintly hear a ferocious roar in his ears, while something seemed to flow through his body.

As the enormous figure vanished, Finney found himself encased in a full suit of silver armor. A white cape billowed behind him, though there was no wind to stir it. His presence had been transformed in an instant.

The moment the Demonic Armor was fully equipped, Finney could feel its immense power. Forget Hawkeye—he wouldn't even be afraid of Captain America right now.

"This is amazing! It's really strong!"

Clenching his fists, Finney could barely contain his excitement. The fear and uncertainty he'd had about facing the future had eased significantly in this moment.

The Demonic Armor amplified all of Finney's abilities. His speed, strength, and even mental clarity were greatly enhanced.

But above all, it improved his defense. Finney wasn't sure how the armor compared to vibranium in terms of durability, but the fact that it could evolve to match its wielder's strength gave it an edge that left vibranium far behind.

Of course, with great power came great cost. Finney could feel his stamina draining rapidly. Despite his years of physical training, he estimated that he could only maintain the armor for about twenty minutes.

As for the Demonic Armor's invisibility function, it seemed to be beyond his current level. He probably needed to get stronger before he could use it.

"Right, the Golden Great Evolution Technique!"

Finney suddenly remembered that the Demonic Armor had boosted his overall abilities. Would that mean the enhanced version of the Golden Great Evolution Technique could feed back into itself?

"Double my physical abilities!"

Clearing his mind, Finney activated the Golden Great Evolution Technique, focusing on doubling his physical strength. He had tried something similar before, but it had never worked.

As soon as he spoke the words, he felt his already powerful body grow even stronger. For a moment, he had the illusion that he was invincible.

Not only that, but with his physical strength doubled, the Demonic Armor's duration also extended, though he couldn't quite tell by how much.

"Triple my physical abilities!"

Eagerly, Finney gave another command. But this time, perhaps because he hadn't fully cleared his mind, nothing happened.

After a moment of focus, Finney repeated the command, "Triple my physical abilities!"

A rush of warmth flowed through his body, comforting and intoxicating, but almost immediately, a wave of fatigue washed over him. It seemed that tripling his abilities was his current limit.

Despite this, Finney wasn't disappointed. In fact, he was thrilled. Progress could be made step by step. After the Purple Chicken Wrap fiasco, the fact that the Demonic Armor had exceeded his expectations was already a huge win.

Without proper equipment, Finney couldn't accurately measure his strength or speed, but he could easily lift the heaviest object in sight.

The only downside was that even with his strength doubled, he still couldn't access the Demonic Armor's invisibility function, meaning it required an even higher level of power.

What's more, the Golden Great Evolution Technique's effects weren't permanent. As his thoughts became more scattered and his focus weakened, the enhancements gradually faded, and he felt himself returning to normal.

After about forty minutes, Finney sensed that his stamina had nearly reached its limit. He decided to deactivate the Demonic Armor. The armor reverted into its sword form, which hovered in front of him before disappearing.

The moment the armor was gone, a wave of intense soreness washed over him, and Finney collapsed onto the ground.

"I overdid it..."

That was his first thought as he lay on the floor, completely spent. He had underestimated the aftereffects of deactivating the Demonic Armor. Now, he couldn't muster any strength, and his entire body ached.

With the skill deactivated, the Demonic Armor vanished into thin air. Thankfully, it seemed he wouldn't have to worry about carrying it around in sword form all the time—it really was more of a skill than a physical object.

Exhausted, Finney rolled onto his back, ignoring the dirt beneath him as he reflected on what had happened.

"It must've been the Golden Great Evolution Technique that caused such severe side effects. My body temporarily improved, but once the effect wore off, the backlash hit even harder."

Finney quickly figured out the reason. In the end, it all came down to his body being too weak. That was the root of the problem.

At the moment, he was just a fifteen-year-old kid. No matter how much physical training he did, his strength was still limited by human standards.

After sulking for a bit, Finney shook off the negativity. Complaining wasn't in his nature. Instead of dwelling on the problem, it was better to think about how to keep improving.

"Maybe I should stick to the original plan and go ask that bald guy for help?"

Lying on the ground, his thoughts wandered, and he couldn't help but mutter to himself.

Just as he spoke, a gentle voice suddenly came from behind him, "It's not very polite to talk about someone's baldness behind their back, you know."

A shiny bald head came into view.
