I know what kind of person you are

Nicole hadn't been gone for more than a few minutes when she reappeared, leaning against the doorway like she owned the place. Her grin was practically ear-to-ear, and I already knew she was about to make my life difficult.

"So," she drawled, dragging out the word as she sauntered back into the lounge. "Have you two planned the wedding yet? Or are you still in the honeymoon phase?"

I sighed, tilting my head back against the couch. "Do you ever stop?"

Nicole smirked, flopping into the chair across from us and tossing her feet up on the coffee table. "Nope. You love it."

Layla chuckled softly beside me, and I felt her shift, her fingers toying with the edge of my sleeve. I wasn't about to admit it out loud, but there was something almost comforting about Nicole's relentless teasing. It kept things light, distracting us from the weight of everything else.
