Chapter 9

"If that's what you want" I said, dialing the number and putting the phone to my ear. Seeing that I was actually calling, they looked at each other uncertainly.

"She's bluffing" Vallentina reassured everyone. After a few rings, I heard a low male voice on the phone.

"What is it about"

"Good morning boss. I am currently in a rather uncomfortable situation, surrounded by people who were thrown out of the club after Friday's brawl. They demand that I renounce my testimony and let them return to the club" I said seriously, looking each of them straight in the eye.

"Put me on loudspeaker" He growled menacingly. With a slight smile saying You're screwed I put it on speaker and held the phone out towards the group.

"Who dares attack my staff..." You could hear the dominance in his voice.

"Ha! How do I know you're her boss and not some guy impersonating him?" Vallentina demanded. I already know what they will write on her tombstone. She was killed by her stupidity.

"I'm Ethan Bargott, and as far as I know, no one on this planet is stupid enough to impersonate me" He growled, causing terrible fear to appear on the faces of the group.

"Impossible" Vallentina muttered. "It's some kind of misunderstanding. Nova must have misunderstood us. We wanted to apologize to her for what happened yesterday" She started to explain. "If we could meet,... I would explain everything" She started to say sweetly.

I opened my mouth, not believing my ears. This crazy woman is flirting with him. After all…. Who will bring her back to earth? Who can explain that the earth doesn't revolve around her boobs and false eyelashes? I couldn't imagine seeing a boss enamored by such a chick. Somehow it didn't suit him.

"Absolutely" I heard the answer and in disbelief I turned the phone towards me, trying in some magical way to see what he meant.

"I'm busy, I'll see you in a few days at the club" He finished the conversation, but before he did, Vallentina exclaimed.

"I can't wait!" With her sweet seductive voice.

And so a great misunderstanding arose.

For some reason, I felt anger rising inside me. I turned on my heel and left the building.

"As I can see, your boss is not as caring as you thought!" I heard Barbie laughing.

My eyes turned golden for a moment. I will kill her. Stellar growled. I was as furious as she was, but I had to calm down quickly.

I couldn't make a scene of something like that. I didn't know my boss well enough to know what he liked and what he didn't like. If he wanted to meet her, so be it.

Opening and clenching my fists on the way to the trainer, I wondered who I could spar with to blow off some steam before work. When I entered the building, I immediately approached Stan.

"Tell me you have someone to spar with because I'm afraid I'll explode" I grabbed his arm and looked him in the eye without blinking.

"You are lucky. Go change your clothes. You'll be happy" He patted me on the back without saying anything else. When I came out changed, I stopped dead in my tracks.

"Hey, Nova. Apparently you need a partner to fight with" The man said cockily.

"Dan? What are you doing here?" I looked at Stan questioningly.

"Relax. You don't have to hold back with me. The boss told me about you" Dan explained, which didn't help at all.

"Did he?" I got even more upset. "He told you... Sure, why not…. Let's tell the whole world the secret I've been hiding all my life!" I exploded.

"Calm down, Nova. Only I know and only because Alpha Ethan wanted me to help you in case of trouble" He explained but I didn't want to listen.

"Then you won't be offended if I go all the way" I asked murderously. He came out on the mat ready to fight.

"Go ahead, I'm tou..gh" He finished grabbing my right leg right next to his head. Using his strong grip, I pushed off on my left leg and swung at him from the other side. He blocked this punch too. I pinned him down with both of my grabbed legs and pushed my full body weight against him, causing him to fall backwards onto his back.

However, he didn't let me land on him and threw me over him. He didn't have time to get up yet when I quickly bounced off the mat and attacked him with a kick to the head again, which he blocked again.

While fighting him, I stopped thinking about anger and focused more and more on the fight. It was something else, someone else. I had known Stan for years and we both knew what to expect from the other. It was different here.

I felt excited and satisfied. We fought head to head. Dan blocked my blows and I avoided his. Whoever hits the other first will be the winner. Sweat flowed down our foreheads, but neither of us wanted to give up.

Eventually, Dan managed to block my arms and press his weight against the mat, immobilizing me.

"We have to do this again sometime" I choked out. Dan released me from under his weight and sat down next to me on the mat.

"You're good. You would make a good warrior in Alpha Ethan's army" And all the joy left me.

"I'm not going to be anyone's warrior" I muttered and went to the shower. Dan looked at Stan and he just raised his hands and whispered. "Women."

"I heard that!" I shouted from behind the door. All I heard was Dan's genuine laughter.

"Yeah, laugh. Just you wait, I'll figure you out" I muttered under my breath. As I was leaving the building, I noticed Dan waiting patiently for me.

"Also on the night shift?" I asked.

"I told you I had to keep an eye on you" He replied, patting my head.

"Oh right. It's a pity you weren't there earlier"

"I was"

"What?" I went crazy.

"I was there when you went with a group of people to an abandoned building. I watched everything from afar. If something happened, I would help you" He explained.

"Oh, I understand"

I lowered my head. It looked like my follower turned out to be Dan. Actually, it was a good thing, because I believed in his strength.

The night passed peacefully, the music was playing loudly, happy customers were ordering alcohol.

Around midnight, a group of men, or rather wolves, entered the club after I felt them.

For some reason, chills ran through my body. I recognized Liam among them, walking next to a similar-looking, older man. When they were led to room nr 7, I looked out of the corner of my eye at Dan, who was standing behind the bar making a phone call with an extremely serious face.

A few minutes later, one of the men left the room and went down to place his order. It so happened that I was walking to the bar and asked me to bring the alcohol. When the individual returned to the room, Dan grabbed my hand.

"Don't go. I will go"

"What? But why? You know that you are a bartender and you have to stand behind the bar, not take orders" I asked in surprise, preparing the bottles.

"You shouldn't have contact with these people" He made a threatening face, but Liam appeared next to us, literally out of nowhere.

"Ready? Add two more bottles of whiskey and come on" He said, frustrated that he had to come here.

"On my way sir" I replied through my teeth. I added two bottles and before Dan could say anything, I followed the boy.

"I heard that Vallentina was thrown out by you" He said behind him, walking to the room.

"As far as I know, the security guards kicked her out" I frowned, not looking up.

"You didn't have to throw her right away" He grumbled without turning around. Fortunately for him, we were already in front of the room, which we immediately entered.

Liam sat down on one of the sofas and kept his eyes on me. The men were deep in conversation and paid no attention to me. I efficiently placed my order on the table, wanting to make a quick escape.

"It's her?" An older man who looked like Liam suddenly asked. I flinched at the question but didn't look up.

"Yeah" He said with dissatisfaction in his voice, his eyes boring into the back of my head.

"You did well. We don't need garbage. We will take over soon. You need someone stronger by your side" He explained.

"Yes, father" The boy nodded. I put down the last bottle, bowed and left the room. Before I could close the door, they returned to their earlier conversation.

"When is he coming back?"

"He's supposed to be here in three days, but if we send some ferals near his borders and attack some innocents, he might speed up his return"

"How many ferals did you manage to collect in total?"

"There are about three hundred and practically everyone has something for Ethan's Alpha. Plus our four hundred. He won't be able to prepare for us in such a short time"

"Very good. If we reduce his number of warriors, we will be able to attack him without any problems and then we will start ruling"

Clutching my tray, standing a few steps away from the room, I tried as gently as possible to walk away without being noticed.

Not good. You need to tell Ethan about this. Stellar said.

I know, but this isn't the time or place. I will wait until the end of the shift until it is safe.
