Chris glanced at Magikarp's stats.

It was a disaster—no perfect stats and even two zeros.

Among the many Pokémon Chris had seen, this one was a rarity.

It truly lived up to its reputation as the weakest Pokémon, excelling at being useless.

However, Chris wasn't interested in keeping it, so he simply clicked to release it.

Sitting, he gently brushed Ralts while waiting for Trevor to fish.

Chris found it quite relaxing.

Both could be groomed at the same time.

Catching a Magikarp with a Poké Ball felt like a waste of a Poké Ball.

The second cast wasn't as fast. After more than ten minutes, the float remained still.

"The pond bully is here!" someone suddenly shouted.

Trevor didn't even glance over. He quickly reeled in his line, collapsed the sunshade, and patted his ponytail, ready to leave.

"What's going on?" Chris asked curiously.

Before Trevor could answer, there was a loud croak.

"Cuck!" A Froakie leaped from a large tree nearby and launched the bubbles around its neck.

Each bubble shot like a missile, targeting the Trainers fishing at the redwood pond.

Two Trainers quickly commanded their Pokémon to defend, while another, who didn't react in time, was knocked down by the bubbles.

"Bulbasaur, use Vine Whip!"

Two green vines extended from the bulb on Bulbasaur's back, crossing to block the bubbles.

But it wasn't over. Froakie opened its mouth and fired a barrage of fist-sized bubbles, spraying the crowd like a machine gun.

A Mareep was stunned on the spot, and its Trainer quickly recalled it into its Poké Ball and fled.

"Finally! I spent two weeks waiting for this!" The last remaining Trainer tossed his fishing rod aside, excitement all over his face. "You're going to be my Pokémon!"

"Cacnea, use Pin Missile!"

"Cacneaaa~~~" A spiky, spherical cactus raised its arms, launching countless needles toward Froakie.

"Kalu!" Froakie's face showed a hint of mockery. Just before landing, it pushed off with its hind legs and easily dodged the Pin Missile, closing in on Cacnea like lightning. A glowing energy gathered in its hand.

With a swift *Pound*, Froakie struck.

"Smack!"

"Boom!" Cacnea was sent flying, crashing into a tree beside its Trainer, knocked out in one hit.

"This..." Cacnea's Trainer was stunned. His Pokémon had missed, and Froakie had taken it down with a single move.

As Froakie approached, the Trainer hastily threw another Poké Ball.

An Elekid appeared.

The previous Cacnea had the Grass type advantage over Froakie's Water type, but now, with Elekid's Electric type, the Trainer was ready. This time, he wasn't just talking.

"Elekid, use Thunder Shock!"

"Thunder~~" Elekid's saffron-colored sparks leaped above its head, quickly converging into a bolt of lightning aimed straight at Froakie.

But Froakie didn't flinch. Instead, it responded with a powerful "Bubble Beam."

*Boom!* The Thunder Shock and Bubble Beam collided mid-air, causing an explosion that filled the area with thick smoke.

Before the smoke even cleared, Froakie had already darted through it. In a flash, it was in front of Elekid, delivering another *Pound* right to its face!

*Smack!*

Elekid was sent flying, crashing into the same tree where Cacnea had fallen moments before. Its small body slid down the trunk, completely knocked out.

Another one-hit KO.

"This... this is impossible!" the Trainer stammered, his eyes wide in disbelief. Both his Pokémon had fallen so easily against Froakie.

Now that his team was defeated...

"Just wait! Next time, I'll catch you for sure!" The Trainer hastily retrieved both Cacnea and Elekid into their Poké Balls before turning tail and running off, abandoning his umbrella and fishing rod in his rush.

Froakie didn't bother giving chase. It simply watched the fleeing Trainer with a mocking glint in its eyes.

"As expected of the notorious bully of Redwood Pond, it's incredibly strong!" Trevor remarked, clearly impressed by Froakie's performance in the battle.

Noticing Chris's curious expression, Trevor quickly added, "That Froakie often ambushes Trainers while they're fishing. Although it never seriously hurts anyone, it always destroys their fishing rods. Over time, people started calling it the pond bully."

"Froakie is also one of the three starter Pokémon," Chris said thoughtfully. "Why hasn't anyone managed to catch it yet?"

It was puzzling. Starter Pokémon were highly sought after, and there were usually plenty available at breeding centers.

"There have been Trainers who've tried, but this Froakie shows up at random times. Sometimes it appears several days in a row, but other times it vanishes for months. It's also really smart. If there are too many people around, it stays hidden."

"And Froakie's pretty strong, too. Redwood Pond is classified as an E-level danger zone, so most of the Trainers who come here are rookies. That's probably why no one has managed to capture it yet."

"Do you want me to help you catch it?" Trevor offered, with a slight grin. "I'm not super confident, but we can give it a shot. Worst case, we just turn and run."

"No need." Chris had already put away his device and was approaching Froakie. "I'll handle this one myself."

With a flick of his wrist, Chris tossed a Poké Ball into the air. It burst open in a flash of silver light.

"Jiji!" Torchic landed, full of energy and ready for battle!
