chapter 1

Dormitory rules 

The door to the dormitory came open, everywhere went silent, the cold atmosphere was sending fears and shivers down the students body , everyone covering themselves with their duvet and praying in their heart for it not to be what they are thinking.

As they all lay there shivering and waiting for their fears to come to manifestation they heard their principal voice with a pinch of anger in it.

" What is the noise all about ?"

"You all are meant to be sleeping and not awake by this time of the night. You have classes to attend tomorrow and some of you have exams and tests to write and all you all do is make noise and discuss irrelevant issues?"

Blocked heads, just nothing upstairs only to cause unnecessary panic and chaos that you all know well how to do in this school, Don't worry I will soon use one of you as a scapegoat for the others to learn from rubbish and insolent he vented on them and turned to leave but after taking a few steps he paused and asked, 

"Where are Emmanuel and James?" He asked as he suspiciously looked at the students and back to their beds.

" I asked a simple question: Where are Emmanuel and James or has the cat gotten your tongues!!!!!"

He roared this time around getting more furious now moving closer to the students' bunk beds.

The… the.. they went to the restroom 

Sir one of them stammered.

"Oh the bathroom" he said now calmly 

Make sure when they return you let them know I came here and I won't tolerate any noise from this dorm again don't make me come back the second time cause you know you all won't escape it. Go to sleep everyone he said and walked out of the dorm shutting the door behind him .

There was a sign of relief in the atmosphere 

"Oh finally" a student let out a deep sigh of relief.

But why's this man always an enemy of progress? He's always coming at the wrong time . He nearly caught us right now but God pass am ken one of the male students said .

No mind that yeye man jareh his plans won't work this time around cause we are always a step ahead of him Moses said while laughing. You know he will always say " what the elders see while sitting down if a child likes let him climb the tallest iroko tree he would never see it but now what a child sees while sitting down if that elder likes let him go and climb Zuma rock he won't see a pin talk more of whot.

Everyone burst out laughing.

" This guy ehh "   Ken said as he turned to the guy beside him and asked.

  " How far Stanley What keeping 

Emmanuel and James?

"Shey na cow head they dey cook for that bush?"

Stanley: " I don't know ohh maybe they noticed the principal's movements and decided to keep low till everywhere is settled you know as e dey be naw ".

*Give them some more time and they will come around very soon ."

Ok ohh ken said I just hope they haven't finished the food by themselves already, that is why I love us going together for this kind of mission. If not that this yeye principal will come around we would all have been there by now eating .

Am so hungry and they are taking a lot of time. Moreover, it is getting really late. I hope they are safe inside the bush.

They aren't kids naw Moses said ,

And is today the first time we are going inside the bush to cook in this boarding house?.

Me and Kelvin went the last time didn't we?

It is their turn and they know how we roll 

Take a chill pill they might be rounding up already let wait a little more ok they will soon be back.

I hope so, Ken said, "Why am I feeling tense? I don't know if it's because of the principal or something else. I am not feeling settled inside me and it is strange.

" You done come again ohh" Our spiritual father, Moses said bursting out laughing.

You are always feeling something inside you, abeg take am easy ohh daddy G.O of our time , president general among the nation 🙇 take it easy this is a normal thing we all do in this boarding house. 

Even though you are among the people that went through the last ordeal so what changed now? Why are you feeling worried about it? They are not kids and as was said before maybe they are laying low because of the principal's presence, or something else is holding them up. Let it be and be relaxed. They will soon show up and take a chill pill bruh ok .

As they were arguing and talking the door suddenly swung open with force and a drenched and panting James ran inside the dorm. He was soaked with his own sweat and he was looking so exhausted and in shock. As soon as he ran inside and was asked what happened " where's Emmanuel? They asked .

He couldn't alter a sincere word; he was in a state of shock .

James please say something" what happened to you and where's Emmanuel?

The both of you went out together. Why are you the only one coming back? And what after you why are you running.

Questions were flooding in front of every angel that James couldn't take it anymore he passed out immediately.

Everywhere went into chaos , everyone was in confusion. It became so noisy and crowded people from other dorms started coming into James' dorms to know what happened everywhere went into chaos some started crying and shouting,they started pouring water to revive him but to no avail they were confusing everywhere .

They didn't know what else to do so they started blaming each other. I told you not to let them go to the bush to cook tonight but you wouldn't listen now you see ?

James has passed out and no sight of Emmanuel what all this for crying out loud 

Cause of you desperate and selfish desires and reasons we all has landed into trouble ken said with tears in his eyes 

Now we don't even know what exactly is going on. How do we go about this now ?

Let's just call the principal or go to the school clinic. He's still breathing. Let's rush him there now.

"NO" Moses said ,we can't, it would implicate us more. Let's pour him more water so he will wake up please.

Implicate you say? We always implicated because of you Moses what if he dies won't that be double implication? 

Pls let take him to the clinic and stop this argument for once we will bother about the implications later let save a life please as they were arguing on which to go for 

They heard the least person they wanted to hear his voice at the moment 

"" What is happening here?" The principal shouted. Everybody froze immediately.
