Chapter 100: Awakening the Light

The dark energy crashed against Kael and Lysandra like a tidal wave, but instead of overpowering them, it was repelled by a brilliant surge of light emanating from Lysandra's chest. The radiant glow enveloped them both, forcing the dark figure to recoil, its form flickering like a dying flame.

Lysandra's breath came in ragged gasps as the light intensified, filling every corner of the chamber. She felt the power coursing through her veins, unlike anything she had ever experienced. It was warm, fierce, and unyielding. She tightened her grip on Kael's hand, grounding herself in his presence.

"Do you feel that?" she whispered, her voice filled with awe.

Kael nodded, his eyes wide with astonishment. "What is it, Lysandra? This light… it's coming from you."

As the darkness dissipated, the figure's voice echoed again, though now it sounded strained, almost desperate. "This is not the end, Lysandra. The light may be strong, but it will not last forever. You will face the shadows again. And next time, they will consume you."

The dark figure vanished into the mist, leaving behind an uneasy silence. Lysandra and Kael were left standing in the chamber, surrounded by the remnants of the dark energy, now dissolving into nothingness.

Lysandra collapsed to her knees, exhaustion finally catching up to her. "It's not over," she said, her voice barely audible. "The darkness… it's still out there."

Kael knelt beside her, wrapping his arms around her trembling form. "Then we'll face it together," he assured her, his tone resolute. "You're not alone, Lysandra. We'll find a way to end this once and for all."

As they rose to their feet, the ground beneath them began to rumble. The altar cracked, and the entire chamber shook violently. Stones crumbled from the ceiling, and fissures appeared in the floor. The ancient structure was collapsing around them.

"We need to get out of here, now!" Kael shouted, grabbing Lysandra's hand and pulling her toward the exit.

They raced through the narrow corridors, dodging falling debris and navigating the unstable passages as the fortress crumbled around them. The sound of crashing stones and the echo of shattering walls filled the air, but Lysandra kept her focus on the light within her, using it to guide their path.

Just as they reached the final archway leading outside, the ceiling gave way. A massive stone slab came crashing down, blocking their escape. Lysandra summoned every ounce of strength she had left, unleashing the light from within her to push the stone away. The slab shattered, allowing them to burst through the exit just as the fortress collapsed entirely.

The sky outside was tinged with the colors of dawn, and the cool air filled their lungs as they stood on the hillside, watching the ruins crumble into dust. Lysandra could hardly believe they had escaped, but there was little time to celebrate.

Kael turned to her, his expression a mixture of relief and concern. "Lysandra, what was that power? How did you—"

Before he could finish, a shadow moved in the distance, catching Lysandra's eye. She recognized the figure immediately—it was Elara, standing atop a nearby ridge. The sorceress's eyes gleamed with malevolence, and a knowing smile spread across her face.

"It seems our battle isn't over," Elara called out, her voice carrying on the wind. "You may have found the light, Lysandra, but the shadows are far from vanquished. I will see you again."

And with that, Elara vanished into the morning mist, leaving behind an ominous promise of future conflict. Lysandra's heart sank as she realized that this victory was only temporary and that their struggle against the darkness was far from over.
