After a satisfying meal, He Kui looked out through the fully transparent windows surrounding them.
This was one of the rare high-rise buildings in the botanical district. One side offered a view of the vast ocean, while the other overlooked the bustling residential area surrounding the towering central elevator.
It was a place where peace and commotion existed side by side, yet separated.
"It's beautiful," Luna remarked as she followed his gaze out to the seemingly endless ocean. She took out her phone to snap some pictures.
"Yes…"
So beautiful, yet so fragile.
Luna, having grown up in the colonies, found the view enchanting. But this place was far from stable, at least for now.
"So, shall we take a walk?" He Kui suggested softly as Luna finished taking photos.
"Sure~"
Luna naturally took hold of He Kui's hand, intertwining their fingers, and He Kui didn't resist.
"It must be hard for you, Luna."
After all, his current appearance wasn't exactly the best—especially in PLANT, where everyone seemed like a model, making his nouveau-riche look stand out.
"It doesn't matter~ As long as it's you, I'm happy!"
The beautiful scenery seemed perfect for a heartfelt confession.
Hearing Luna's words, He Kui gently tightened his hold on her soft, delicate hand.
"Thank you. I like you too, Luna."
"Mhm!"
Luna blushed and leaned naturally against He Kui, her delicate fragrance drifting into his nose, stirring his emotions.
They soon left the restaurant and began strolling around the commercial street near the botanical district. The place felt more peaceful compared to May City, let alone the capital, April City.
The people here were mostly East Asian, which gave He Kui a slight sense of nostalgia.
His choice to dine with Luna here wasn't random. Although October City seemed unassuming, Matthias had mentioned that this place had some strange qualities. Their intelligence agency had been unable to infiltrate it, as if an invisible wall blocked them out.
But aside from fewer people, He Kui hadn't noticed anything unusual.
He didn't need to unravel this mystery, just indulged in his curiosity.
With a million-dollar surveillance drone keeping watch from above, he felt secure. He'd also donned a disguise, and since this wasn't a key target for LAMBS' infiltration, he indulged his curiosity safely.
"Oh, is it okay if I call you by your real name here?" Luna asked sweetly, leaning against him as they walked past the city's warm neon lights.
"Good point."
He Kui came back to himself and nodded in agreement.
"How about I call you 'Uncle,' then?" she teased with a playful smile.
"…I'm only two years older than you, Luna."
Under her mischievous grin, He Kui replied with a faint sigh. If she really called him "Uncle," he'd look like one of those rich men dating a college girl.
"Then 'Big Brother' it is~"
"Alright, is my 'older sister' feeling tired?"
"No way! I just felt like calling you that."
To her, He Kui was the first man besides her father who made her feel this protected and secure, so she half-seriously wanted to call him "Uncle."
"Do you like it~?"
Luna emerged from the dressing room, wearing a light blue strap dress, looking radiant and stunning.
"You look beautiful."
"You've already said that so many times!" Luna pouted, tugging playfully at his hand.
The scene made passersby stop and stare in surprise.
PLANT had a marriage compatibility system, but it was rare to see couples looking so affectionate in public.
Besides, they didn't look like a typical matched couple at all. The girl's sweet voice calling the man "Big Brother" softened a few hearts around them.
One young man nearby, browsing clothes himself, looked on enviously, glancing down at his own outfit.
Aren't we all just shopping here? he thought. Why the huge difference?
Why don't any girls sweetly call me "Big Brother"? Does this even make sense?
"I really think it looks great, and I love it," He Kui said sincerely, knowing Luna was deliberately speaking loudly. Wearing his mask, he met people's glances, and instead of pulling back, he gently embraced her slender form.
To the young man, it was like witnessing "Beauty and the Beast."
Shouldn't someone call security? he wondered.
If the girl just called out, he'd leap in to help.
"Let's get this one, then," He Kui said.
To his disappointment, the girl in the man's arms showed no sign of disgust; instead, she looked as radiant as a blooming rose, a faint heartbreak echoing in the store.
"Has PLANT's taste really changed?" he muttered, hastily walking away.
Any more of this and it wasn't just his eyes that would ache—his heart did too.
"Luna, do you want to buy lingerie?" He Kui asked with a chuckle, gesturing toward a store across the street.
It was a lingerie boutique, displaying a seductive black lace set on its front mannequin—black lace over white satin, exuding a mysterious yet pure allure.
"Don't get the wrong idea. I just think this dress would look even better with some nice lingerie to match."
"You think anyone's going to believe that?" the young man thought bitterly as he eavesdropped, calling the older man a shameless pervert in his mind.
No way the girl's going along with this one!
"Well… it wouldn't hurt. Do you like that kind, Big Brother?" Luna replied, face flushed.
"…I give up on life." The young man staggered, gazing up at PLANT's dark sky in despair.
Meanwhile, He Kui glanced at the young man nearly tripping but quickly looked away, walking with Luna into the lingerie store.
The shop was filled with bold and daring designs, though the dim lighting indicated they were about to close for the day.
"Big Brother…"
It was Luna's first time shopping for lingerie with a man, especially with such revealing options on display. She tugged at He Kui's sleeve shyly, too embarrassed to joke around like before.
"What is it?"
He Kui chuckled.
"When are we going back tonight?"
There were too many people on the asteroid. She didn't dislike it there, but here, it was just the two of them in a quiet world of their own.
With the darkening sky and the store about to close, Luna's reluctance to leave grew.
"We don't have to go back, you know… if you want t
o shop a little more."
Luna's face flushed red, her lowered head hiding her expression. From He Kui's angle, he could see her faint nod.
