Chapter 248: He Kui and the University Girl

The day after He Kui made up his mind, Luna paid a visit to his asteroid.

"Luna, what's up?"

Looking at the girl he hadn't seen in over a month, now even more beautiful, He Kui swallowed slightly and smiled as he asked.

"Did Gibralter come looking for you?"

Luna asked, clearly unhappy.

"Are you talking about the pink-haired, twin-tailed girl?"

He Kui ran the name through his mind and quickly recalled her.

"That's her!"

"She came looking for a job, but I turned her down."

Hearing this, Luna's expression softened a bit.

"What's wrong? Don't like her?"

"Not really…"

It's just that, for some reason, she seemed to compete with Luna over everything—grades, ranks, and even for him.

And she even claimed they were alike.

In what way?

Feeling a bit embarrassed, Luna thought about how Gibralter seemed to assume He Kui was her man. Although Gibralter had a fiancée, she still believed in pursuing her own love.

"Director He! Let's go out to eat together!"

Gathering her courage, Luna blurted out, knowing that Gibralter had come knocking at his door.

Though she managed to say it, her face turned red, like the finest rouge on porcelain.

"Alright."

He Kui didn't question her; he simply smiled and agreed.

"Right now?"

"Yes, right now!"

Luna nodded firmly.

The timing was perfect for dinner.

"How about some Peking duck?"

He Kui suggested, remembering how she seemed to crave it the last time.

Luna, too, instantly thought of that time.

"…Could we do Western instead?"

She wanted Peking duck, but thinking about it reminded her of the time she acted childish and greedy in front of He Kui.

"Sure, I'll make the reservation."

"No… I'll pay this time!"

Her face flushed with embarrassment as she offered to pay.

"No need, I'll take care of it."

He Kui placed a warm hand on her bright red hair.

It wasn't as fiery to the touch as it looked. Instead, it was soft, warm, and smooth, like red satin.

"Luna…"

"Yes?"

"Your hair color is beautiful."

He Kui leaned close to her ear and softly whispered.

His words floated into her ear, and her affection level for him unknowingly reached 80.

Though he rarely checked it these days, it was still useful at times.

"Let's go!"

Blushing, Luna took a few steps back and turned to leave.

"Alright."

For their dinner, He Kui chose to take her to October City instead of May City.

As a cultural hub, October City held extensive resources on philosophy, literature, arts, language, painting, sculpture, and architecture. However, as Coordinators, they had little cultural heritage of their own. All the artistic resources here were sourced from Earth, making it the city that felt closest to Earth.

Of course, this closeness varied. Here, the connection leaned toward East Asia, and it had the highest number of East Asians among the cities.

But with the war, much of the research on Earth's culture had ceased.

As for space?

Though there were cosmic entities, they were essentially just big rocks. Studying those wouldn't yield much.

Thus, October City had become the most desolate among the twelve cities.

"Isn't this a bit too extravagant?"

Settling into a high-end Western restaurant in the botanical district, Luna felt a bit uneasy.

This place seemed even more upscale than the last restaurant they visited.

No wonder he insisted on paying.

A single meal here could easily cost thousands.

"Not at all. Order whatever you like."

As he said this, He Kui felt a bit of irony.

Though they were close in age, the way he said it made him feel like he was treating a college girl.

And she really was a student at a military academy.

"…Alright."

Feeling like she was dating a wealthy man, Luna also blushed.

"But you should've told me we were coming somewhere like this! I would've dressed up…"

She blushed, playfully scolding him.

Though she had dressed up, it was just a mint-green lace dress.

Meyrin had helped her pick it out, and though it was beautiful, it felt out of place here.

"No worries; I didn't dress up either," He Kui shrugged, still in a casual T-shirt and jeans.

"That's the problem!"

With his slightly bulky disguise, he looked like a nouveau riche.

And with her dressed as a student, Luna felt self-conscious, especially with the staff's curious glances.

Of course, the staff was trained to be discreet.

This was just Luna feeling self-conscious.

"If you want to buy clothes after dinner, we can go shopping."

He Kui chuckled, teasingly.

Spending time with Luna wasn't a waste. He genuinely liked this straightforward girl.

And the added long-range shooting abilities would be beneficial for him.

Meanwhile, Luna was caught in an intense inner struggle.

If they went shopping, they'd definitely look like a couple.

But she wanted to go shopping with him.

Recalling the warmth of his hand on her head, Luna subtly nodded.

"Let's go after dinner."

"Alright."

He Kui chuckled.

While they chatted, the food was brought out.

It was standard Western fare, but made with rare ingredients from Earth.

The beef was tender and juicy, leaving a lingering flavor.

Halfway through, Luna, who had been sitting across from He Kui, moved to sit beside him.

"This is really good. You should try it," she said sweetly, holding a piece of oyster on her fork.

"Are you sure?"

Seeing the tender meat in front of him, along with Luna's slightly pouting lips, He Kui swallowed.

"Mhm~ It's delicious, and you need to build up your strength," Luna teased, casting him a playful glance.

"Alright."

Without further hesitation, He Kui took a bite from the fork, still bearing her lipstick mark.

"How is it?"

Watching He Kui's action, and seeing the fork that had touched both their lips, Luna felt her head spin. A strange yet ful

filling warmth spread through her, a blend of shyness and satisfaction.

"Delicious."

"Glad you liked it."

Luna nodded, staying by his side with a pleased expression, eating contentedly.
