Cough, cough, cough. Sitting up she bursts into sharp coughs, hacking in air. "goddamnit I hate that novel, it's going to be the death of me" she says standing up shakily, it takes her a few seconds to realize she wasn't in her room, or a hospital bed for that matter.
"where the hell am I" she coughs again holding her chest as she looks around the room "Do they think I'm rich enough to afford such a room?" she scoffs out loud sitting back onto the bed and reaching her hand to the drawer to grab her phone which she soon realized was there. Perking up an eyebrow she scrambles over the bed looking for her phone which she finds to no avail, "is this how people feel when they don't have drugs?" she asks out loud grabbing her hair and tugging at it.
"since when was my hair so long?" she asks as she rakes her hand through her white hair as she tenses up "Or white, am I dead?" she asks getting up as she walks to the mirror.
As she walks over to the mirror she traces her hand over the furniture, it feels so eerie, out of touch and out of this world, was she alive?
Reaching the mirror there's a brief silence before a screech leaves her mouth, her hands going to her hair, her white hair, she looked like a child, a dauntingly pale Victorian child who had never been under the sun before, using to fingers to pinch herself again she screams and in that moment a freckled red-haired girl cosplaying as a main bursts in dropping a metal bowl of water screaming "Miss Lyryka! Don't move! DOCTOR! DOCTOR SHE'S AWAKE"
'Miss Lyryka? lyryka who? lyryka where?' She whips her head around behind her trying to look for this mentioned person, they couldn't mean her could they? That would explain why she looked this way but what about her life? Her real life?
With a doctor now rushing in and some maids ushering her to the bed amid the chaos a flurry of memories seemed to settle back with her, right, she was dead, she didn't have a life anymore.
Jayein, 19 years old and currently a university student. I wouldn't say my life was bad enough for me to be happy about my death, I still lived with my parents, and I don't think I spent enough time with my mom or sister, nor did I give them their Christmas presents. Its-- no, it was the last week of school just before Christmas break, our finals just ended and I finally went on leave from my job at the small cafe down the road, I skipped a friend's party, and I wanted to get home early and feed my cat and finish reading the novel 'around the saintess' bumble bush' yes, I do admit I was a bit impatient I could have waited till I got home to read the new chapter before I stepped into the god*amn traffic, is this karma for the hate comments I left after each chapter? I mean, yes it was a trashy book but I was the one who chose to read it did I not?
She snaps up out of her state of confusion finally looking at the doctor holding onto her hand and checking her pulse then to the red-haired man from earlier crying over her and the multitude of maids looking over her worriedly. They were all worried for her. Would her family also be crying over her dead body like this too? or had she also simply stopped existing there?
"Who are you all anyways?" she asks staring at them only to be met with an uproar of gasps, the red-haired maid crying even louder and an older woman with a monocle and hair tied up in a bun putting her hand to her head and fainting bring up more gasps and screams.
"Behave yourselves!" the doctor scolds, a man with sharp brown eyes and brown hair, wearing a white lab coat. "You all exit,Emile and Raine Remain to take care of the Lady"
As the maids exited the room she looked at the 2 maids that had been told to stay, a long redhaired freckled girl with tan skin and bright green eyes, petite she looked around 16, and next to her was a short raven-haired girl with purple eyes, taller in stature and looked more mature and reserved than the weeping redhead.
"Sorry, who are you? and Them?" she asks the doctor pointing to both girls.
"from what i know, your handmaidens since birth, Emile and Raine," the doctor says calmly "Do you remember what happened?" the doctor asks flipping through a file.
Shaking her head the doctor answers "On the 9th day of the northern winter the last month of the 40th year, during your Birthday another one of your handmaidens Artemis awoke in her divinity, Which affected you, it seems your affinity level is low which sent you into a comatose state, although your awake your dehydration is quite low and it seems you remember nothing" he states as a matter of fact "I will set a dietary schedule for you and relay your well being to the duke" he nods at the handmaidens before excusing himself and briskly walking out.
The moment he's out the door the redhaired maid drops to her knees hugging Jayein by her waist and sobbing "My lady!" she sobs into the duvet "You scared us so much! We couldnt even sleep! Even if you don't remember me I'll take care of you my lady!" unable to react at the extreme display of emotion from the handmaiden jayein awkwardly pats her hair, 'poor thing, she doesn't know I'm not her lady'
Both's attention is drawn to the ravenette standing to the side "Welcome back my lady, we were waiting for you, and you! Get off our mistress you" Reanne tugs off Emile holding the younger sniffling maid in her arms "This is no way to treat your mistress!"
Friendly handmaidens and being cared for was I really lyryka? the villainess? Shouldn't they care for me less?
