Chapter Thirty-Two: Drinking Off Your Emotions

Avery’s POV

“So?”

I roll my eyes, waiting for Rufus to accept my perhaps once-in-a-lifetime offer… Who knows, this may be the start of something warm and cozy.

“Damn it,” he chuckles. “Yeah.”

I smile, loving his response. It's undeniable the amount of courage inserted in his one-word reply.

Thane is one ruthless and cold guy when he chooses to be, and the sad thing is, you can't be sure of his happy days.

“Actually, damn everything.”

I say, reinforcing his response. Even more to myself, crushing who Thane is, or what he will say, or how he will feel about my lunch with his driver.

Fuck him and his emotions too!

Giggling like children on a playground, we walk over to the car.

“Got any place in mind?” He looks at me, his hand on the key.

“Hmm… Nah.” I shake my head. “You know what, why don't you pick any place of your choice?” I say instead.

“It's your idea, remember?”

“Yeah, and it's your lunch.” I shrug. “So, why not?”
