Avery’s POV
‘I'll be forced to involve the police if you don't get her out right now!’
Typing the text with quivering fingers, I send it to Orion, with my lips pressed firmly in a straight line as I await his response.
“Oh, god.”
With panic still eating me up, I stand up to your the space of Piper’s home.
My mind is in a marathon, trying to figure out how Piper is fairing.
Of course, she isn't okay!
That she is abducted makes it scary, it doesn't matter the torment she is subjected to. And to think of it, Orion is just a psychopath.
Tap. Tap.
There's a gentle knock on the door.
Yielding to reflex without settling to know who it is, I sprint for the door.
“Oh,”
I pause, seeing Rufus in front of me.
He doesn't look the part either, with a worried look on his face.
Instantly, my heart races, praying silently that he didn't get any bad news from his search.
“What is it?” I'm still very much nervous. “It would interest you to speak now.”
