Chapter Eighty-Five: A Friend Indeed

Avery’s POV

‘Meet me at 5th Royal Avenue. 2 PM.’

I stare down at Nelson’s message.

Before I almost got dragged out by Rufus, not by action though, just his angry face boring holes into me, I quickly took Nelson’s number, and we had a brief chat before I got home.

With Thane, jealous and lingering as ever, we could only text ourselves when I got home last night.

And now… The same situation.

“Ave.”

Setting my phone aside, I act normal, getting rid of any suspicion whatsoever.

Dangling my hair nonstop, I lost myself a bit.

“What's up?”

He drops his watch and gadget on the bedside table and comes closer to peck me on my cheek.

I spent last night in his room, making up for the times he had to be together. He's such a crybaby.

“You look, stressed.”

I shrug. “Just maybe I am.”

Dark circles beneath my eyes, pale skin, exhaustion…

“You'll have to be bedridden again.”
