Chapter 386

A cold glint flashed in Hui's eyes as he watched Whitebeard charge at him with unbridled fury.

This time, he wouldn't give Whitebeard another chance to live.

However, just as Hui was about to make his move, another figure rushed in, swiftly intercepting Whitebeard.

A sword clashed against Whitebeard's massive naginata, halting his advance.

It was Gol D. Roger.

He had just, stopped Whitebeard.

No, he had saved him.

"Your opponent is me. Our battle isn't over yet."

Roger grinned as he held Whitebeard back, though inwardly, he was relieved, he had made it just in time!

"Roger, move aside!!!"

Whitebeard roared in fury.

His mind was filled with nothing but rage, he wanted nothing more than to tear Hui apart.

But now, Roger was blocking his way.

Whitebeard's anger boiled over, and he couldn't help but shout in frustration.

But there was no way Roger would move aside.

It had taken everything for him to get here in time and stop this.

Truth be told, he and Whitebeard had never been particularly close. In fact, twelve years ago, he had even joined forces with Garp to annihilate the Rocks Pirates, the very crew Whitebeard had once been part of.

By all logic, they should be mortal enemies.

And yet—that was just the kind of person Roger was.

Reckless. Willful.

When he decided to do something, nothing could change his mind.

"Hahahaha! Come on! Fight me instead!"

Roger ignored Whitebeard's fury and instead laughed heartily, fully locking Whitebeard in combat.

Seeing this, the Whitebeard Pirates, who had been ready to attack Hui, hesitated.

They froze in place, unsure of what to do next.

Hui, watching Roger and Whitebeard battle, instantly understood Roger's intentions.

But he had no interest in doing anything about it.

To him, it was just a waste of time.

Without another word, wings of wind sprouted from his back, and in an instant, he shot into the sky.

In the blink of an eye, he vanished completely.

As soon as Hui disappeared, Roger, who had been fighting Whitebeard, suddenly halted his attacks.

"Thank god… that monster is gone."

He let out a deep breath, but his heart was far from at ease.

Roger had the ability to hear "the voice of all things."

And just moments ago, he had heard something no one else could.

That mysterious man—

The power he wielded made every plant and animal in the area instinctively bow before him, as if they wished to worship him.

Furthermore, Roger's Observation Haki, which was already among the strongest in the world, had developed an even keener sense from this encounter.

And it told him one undeniable truth—

That man could have easily killed every single person here.

The thought alone sent an unbearable chill down Roger's spine.

For the first time, true fear crept into his heart.

Because deep down, he knew;

Had they made one wrong move, this entire island would have become a graveyard.

"Why did you stop me, Roger!!!"

Whitebeard was still furious.

Though the fallen crew member wasn't his closest, in Whitebeard's eyes, every one of his crew was family.

And yet, Roger had stopped him from avenging that family.

"If I didn't stop you—"

Roger looked him straight in the eye and said coldly;

"Every single person here would have been dead."

At those words, the entire battlefield fell silent.

Some people furrowed their brows.

Some thought it was absurd.

And yet, some couldn't stop the cold fear creeping into their hearts.

Especially those who knew Roger well.

Because they knew how rare it was for Roger to feel this way.

And if Roger was saying this,

Then that mysterious man truly had the power to kill all of them.

That was terrifying beyond words.

Even Whitebeard, upon hearing those words, slowly began to calm down.

If anyone else had said this, he might not have believed it.

But this was Roger, the man who had once destroyed the Rocks Pirates.

With Roger's strength, there was no way he would lie about something like this.

"Who the hell is that guy? I've never seen or heard of him before!"

Whitebeard's deep voice carried an unmistakable weight.

Having sailed the seas for decades, he had encountered nearly every powerful individual across the entire world. Even those he had never fought, he had at least heard rumors of.

That was the kind of experience and knowledge he had built over the years.

But this mysterious man… he had absolutely no recollection of him.

It didn't make sense.

A man that powerful should not have remained unknown.

Even if he had deliberately kept a low profile, the world should have still known of his legend.

And yet, it was as if he had only just appeared in this world today.

"I don't know," Roger said, his voice unusually serious. "But his identity… might be far beyond what we can imagine."

Hearing this, everyone fell silent.

No one knew what to say.

What had just transpired was too much for them to process.

They had all expected a grand battle between the two pirate crews, a war that would shake the world.

They had mentally prepared for it.

And yet, before it even began, everything had ended.

Now, no one had the will to fight anymore.

Everyone felt depressed.

Even Whitebeard, who had been ready to unleash his fury, was now silent.

Because of Hui's presence, the great battle that was supposed to last for three days and three nights, never even started.

Meanwhile, in the sky above, Hui flew at high speed, his figure cutting through the clouds like a streak of lightning.

But he had no destination in mind.

He was simply venting his inner frustration by pushing his speed to its limits.

Only after a long, long time did his heart finally calm down.

Regardless of where he was, frustration wouldn't solve anything.

Only absolute clarity and composure would.

As he continued flying, his sharp gaze locked onto a small island below.

Spreading his wings of wind, he descended swiftly, landing on the island in an instant.

Now, the real problem.

Hui had no idea how to return to Hidden Sage World.

He didn't even know whether this world and his world were in the same dimension at all.

But one thing was certain.

Even if they were in the same dimension, the distance between them was beyond imagination.

Because,

He couldn't sense the fragment of his soul he had left behind in Hidden Sage World.

That fragment of soul had been something he could still sense even when he was on the Moon.

And yet, now, there was nothing.

"I came here through space traversal…" Hui muttered. "In that case, I should try using Space Traversal to return."

Standing in the middle of a grassy field, he closed his eyes and focused.

Moments later—

A thought flashed through his mind.

"Good. The cooldown… is only two months."

A wave of relief washed over him.

His various divine abilities each came with their own "cooldown time."

It was like a spring mechanism—

Once a force had been expended, the spring needed time to recover before it could be used again.

And right now,

His space-time travel ability was at its maximum tension.

If he forced it to activate now, it wouldn't work.

Worse, it could permanently break, rendering it useless forever.

"Two months… Hopefully, when the cooldown ends, I'll return directly to Hidden Sage World."

Hui wasn't entirely confident, but this was his only option.

"At least the power levels in this world aren't too high. There shouldn't be anything here that can truly threaten me."

Still, to be cautious, and to enhance his mastery over space traversal,

"For my next assimilation, I'll choose… the power of the mind."

Hui had yet to perform another assimilation since his last one.

None of the available options had seemed worth it.

Originally, he had wanted to assimilate the power of the mind, but—

At the time, his Qi had been unable to detect any mental energy strong enough to assimilate.

However,

Just now, when Whitebeard used his Conqueror's Haki against him.

Hui's Primordial Qi had captured that power.

Now that he had found something worth assimilating, he would act immediately.

Without hesitation, Hui began his next assimilation, this time, with mental power.

He wasn't sure what would happen after the process was complete.

Would his mind evolve into something divine?

Would he ascend even beyond his understanding?

Anything was possible.

As his assimilation began, Hui spread his wings once more and took off into the sky.

Since he had two months before he could return.

He might as well use that time to explore this world.
