Brazen Merchants

Chapter - 135

Jacob crouched low behind a rocky outcrop, his sharp eyes fixed on the scene unfolding before him. He had expected some level of discretion from the merchants, some attempt at secrecy. Instead, they stood in the open, jovially conversing with the armored men before them.

"Well, now," Jacob muttered under his breath, "I certainly didn't expect them to be so brazen. But then again, looking around..." His gaze swept over the barren landscape, devoid of witnesses save for himself. "Why would they expect anyone watching them in this gods-forsaken place?"
