"Have you spoken to him about this?" Jacob asked, though he suspected the answer.
Vela let out a bitter laugh, shaking her head. "Jacob, politics and schemes don't work that way. If I were to confront him outright, he would deny everything and grow more cautious. Men like him don't confess when accused; they double down on their deceit. Worse, he might manipulate my father, the King, into dismissin my concerns as baseless"
