"No, not yet."
Lai Bao shook his head, looking at the kindly-faced woman who couldn't hide her exhaustion, his heart souring.
In just under half a month, Mom seemed to have aged several years, the wrinkles at the corners of her eyes deepening.
Approaching, Zhao Yufen noticed Lai Bao was drenched, "What happened?"
Lai Bao quickly fibbed, "I accidentally fell into the water."
Zhao Yufen gave a bitter smile, her expression indulgent, "You're so grown up, yet you're still as careless as when you were little. You must be frozen, hurry and take a hot shower. I will warm up the food and make you some ginger soup. Don't catch a cold."
"You're the best, Mom."
Lai Bao pecked Zhao Yufen on the cheek before dashing to his room.
Zhao Yufen stiffened, then shaking her head with a smile, sighed, "This kid…"
After a hot shower and changing into fresh clothes, having eaten two large bowls of rice and a bowl of ginger soup, Wen Laibao lay in bed, content and unwilling to move.
