He was Mu Jia's second young master, the epitome of desirability in City C, pursued by all the celebrated beauties. She was a foster daughter of the Wen family, rumored to be as fat as a cow and more robust than a man. Everyone said she wasn't worthy of him, yet he still married her. Wen Laibao accidentally committed a murder and was sentenced to three years, and everyone said her life was over. However, three years later, she shed her excess weight and made a stunning return, appearing before everyone with a beauty that overshadowed all others and married the most feared man in City C, who turned out to be a wife-pampering fanatic!
I personally don't like the idea of a girl fat shamed for long only for her to become slim after serving a prison sentence.
All the men in the story are jerks. So far it seems like the ML is in love with his elder brother's woman but it may not be what it seems. He's currently picking on the FL and humiliating her which makes me not like him. Though I think he's upset with her because she had agreed to her ex fiance to not contact him anymore and so he's punishing her but that hasn't been directly stated.
Just 40 chapters in, and I'm yet to see any real signs of sweet love developing. So far, the female lead (FL) is shown to be unconditionally giving, while the male lead (ML) is anything but supportive. Instead of helping her financially when he could’ve easily.. in exchange for her kind act of saving his life when kids.. he bullies her in front of his friends and pressures her into marrying him in exchange to help her family with money. Worse, he completely breaks his promise of granting her three wishes in exchange for saving his life, and continues to bully her despite remembering everything. yes! they all remember each other, no mix ups or misunderstanding about any person
This story has potential but needs editing for the gender pronouns. From the first chapter, the female protagonist is referred to as male. The support characters are pronouns as male, but they are female. The male lead, in the flashback, is referred by female pronouns. It's very distracting. The writing over time is not unpleasant. The characters' personalities are all superficial. Many are abrasive and unlikable. If the readers can get past the world introduction, the set-building, the clearly beta-version storyline, there are some hidden gems which are outside of the boring weak-to-strong template.
