The black sheep of the Aldine Family

"I'm Klaus," "It's a pleasure to finally meet you, dear sister-in-law," "or should I say ex-sister-in-law? What do you prefer?" says a tall, slim guy with a soul patch beard. "Do you have a tie?" he added while trying to tie his above-the-shoulder frizzy brown hair.

"Are you mute?" He stood up and then walked to the bathroom, with his squeezing tight, silky jeans matched with his cowboy boots, and tucked above is a loose white polo. "Found one!" He then tied his hair in a bun style and walked towards Rebecca. "Ughh, it's so hot in here!" he continued while pulling a chair beside Rebecca.

He sat across Rebecca's bed, crossed his legs, then put his two hands on his knees. One hand above the other.

"Did they cut your tongue?" he asked while raising his eyebrows.

"N-no. Why would they do that?" Rebecca responded with her frowning face.

"Oh, you aren't got that deep, huh?" he commented while checking his nails. "Will black nail polish suit me? What do you think?" he added.

Rebecca remained silent and just stared back at Klaus. Trying to figure out what he meant by not going deep.

What on earth is he saying? Do I just believe this whacko?

"Na-uh, baby girl, I'm not crazy, psycho, or whacko, whatever you're thinking right now," he says, then rests his back on the chair and crosses his arms.

Rebecca gasps and immediately covers her mouth with her hands. She wondered if the words that had only been in her head a moment ago had come out of her mouth.

Did I think out loud?

"C'mon, don't be so surprised; it's just so obviously showing in your face," he commented before looking serious again.

"So, why did you divorce my brother? I mean, who wouldn't, right? Ugh, just thinking about that emotionless face of his is making me shiver! But putting aside his nasty personality, still, he's an Aldine, and Pops is probably thinking of making him his heir, his bloody genius businessman son and future of the so-called Aldine empire. Why did you give up your spot, sweet cake?" he asked before standing up and getting an apple from the table beside Rebecca's bed.

"Want some?" He asked after getting a bite from it.

She gently shakes her head.

"I didn't know that they have another son aside from Winston and Rafael," she says while Klaus only rolls his eyes.

"Why did I divorce him?" she gently smiled, took a deep breath, and stared at the window of the gloomy hospital, which Klaus immediately noticed.

"It's been raining for a couple of days now," he says before taking another bite from his apple. "Yeah, you've been unconscious for three days, and bingo again! I also did save yo' ass, so tell me, why did you divorce him?" he asked again, eagerly waiting for Rebecca's answer.

"So I can love myself." A deafening silence took place for a few seconds.

"That's it?" He broke the silence while intently looking into Rebecca's eyes and without blinking, even once.

"Yes, what other reason—" she confusedly asked but immediately got cut off by him.

"Revenge." Klaus's gentle aura turned differently; it became serious and dark. And for a moment, Rebecca felt threatened due to the heavy atmosphere surrounding them.

In a split second, Klaus looks like a predator in Rebecca's eyes.

Similar to the eyes of the man she loved for a decade.

"Well, my dearest sister-in-law, I'll excuse myself now. Since your visitor has been waiting for you to wake up, just scream if you need help," he casually says, like nothing happened at all.

How can he switch his personality that fast?

The doubt she had a while ago disappeared into thin air. That heavy atmosphere and piercing sky confidence he showed is undoubtedly Aldine's natural expression.

I don't know what he had been through to feel this kind of hatred towards his family.

But I silently prayed for his victory.

Rebecca knew at that very moment, something snapped inside her mind when she heard the word revenge.

And little did she know a small fire had already started to flicker inside her rebellious heart.

"YOU B*TCH!" A loud, very unladylike voice interrupts Rebecca's deep thoughts. Eve ran like an ostrich towards Rebecca's bed and jumped into Rebecca's open arms. She cried like a little kid while Rebecca comforted her.

When she finally calmed down, she grabbed Rebecca's shoulder, bit her lower lip, and took a deep breath.

Within her deep emerald eyes, worried and scared emotions lie down underneath. She asked her, "Why didn't you tell me?" The crack in her voice couldn't be hidden anymore, and her eyes started to get wet again.

"Well..." Rebecca paused and cleared her throat. ".... I just found it a few days ago." She forced a faint smile. "But you already have signs... a few years ago, why did you ignore it?" Eve looked away, then wiped the tears that were running down her cheeks. "Dr. Perez, your doctor, forwarded to us your medical record; that's how I knew, in case you're wondering," she says before breaking down again. "Why, why, Ca? Just why?" she continued without looking at her, biting her lower lip while silently crying.

"Because I found out I was pregnant... and if I started any medication, I might lose them... I choose them, Eve, and always will." The look in her face showed no regret at all; nothing but love and happiness could be found in her dark orbs.

Eve couldn't help but cry into her friend's arms, feeling sorry and scared for her.

Their moment lasted for at least half an hour before a couple of footsteps echoed inside her hospital room.

"Miss her that much?" Teal interrupts the reunion of the two girls and shamelessly welcomes herself inside the room. She opened the fridge and took a seat on the sofa beside the glass window. "What?" she then casually asked, catching the interrogating looks of Eve while opening the bag of chips.

"Good day, ladies, and pardon our interruption." A tall man made their gaze focus on him as he removed his long, wood-colored trench coat and hung it in the coat stand near the entrance door. His wide back met the gaze of the ladies that made Eve gasp for a second and Rebecca skip a beat. The man clearly has a body that is worth drooling for.

He then removed his brimmed hat and hung it on top of the rack. Before turning around, he backrolls his polo sleeves and faces them with his gentle smile.

His golden hair sparkles like a ray of sunshine, and a familiar scent unlocks Rebecca's memory; her heart starts to race, and a part of her past flashes before her eyes.

His scent that always turned her on, his lips on her neck, his arms around her, his big hands that always held her with intimacy, and those eyes, enchanting as the mysterious blue ocean and as beautiful as the noon of the summer sky, but what made her love him before was the look he always had for her, the look with respect, desire, deep love—and a connection that only they could feel.

"It's been a while, my darling," he says, smiling from ear to ear.

It's him.

Her first love, Van Huxley.
