Chapter 08: Teamwork

**Chapter 08: Teamwork**

The leading students raced ahead, only to find themselves facing the first daunting obstacle: a field filled with colossal robots. Towering metal giants, as tall as three-story buildings, loomed before them. There were nine in total, all relentlessly moving with one goal in mind—to crush the students and halt their progress. Their heavy steps sent tremors through the ground, adding a sense of dread to those unfortunate enough to be close.

Though these were the most imposing, they weren't the only machines on the field. There were smaller robots, still towering over the students, yet not as large as the nine giants. However, their sheer numbers and presence posed an equally significant challenge. Their movements were fluid yet mechanical, leaving little room for error.

The front-runners faltered, some freezing in fear as the enormity of the challenge settled in. For a moment, hesitation rippled through the group, and a few students even considered retreating, doubting their ability to push through such an obstacle.

**Freeze!!**

But hesitation wasn't in Todoroki's nature. With a swift gesture, he raised his hand, and ice burst from his fingertips, spreading across the battlefield in a sharp, beautiful arc. The cold air hissed and crackled as the ice surged across the ground, reaching one of the giant robots just as its arm swung toward Todoroki. In seconds, the massive robot was encased in ice, transformed into a frozen statue.

From the commentator's booth, Yamada's voice rang out, filled with excitement. "What an impressive move! Todoroki just turned a giant robot into an ice statue in mere seconds! But wait... isn't that robot... leaning a little?"

As Todoroki dashed between the robot's frozen legs, he called back, his tone as cold as the air around him, "I froze it while it was moving. Of course, it's going to fall."

True to his words, the massive robot began to collapse, ice-covered metal groaning as it gave way. The falling pieces of the giant robot clanged against the ground with a deafening crash, sending debris flying in every direction. For a terrifying moment, it seemed as if the students beneath the robot had been crushed.

But then—

**Crash!**

From beneath the twisted metal, Kirishima, his red hair vibrant against the cold steel, and TetsuTetsu, his skin gleaming silver, emerged unscathed. Their Quirks had protected them, their hard and metallic bodies shielding them from harm. As they stood tall amidst the wreckage, they spoke in unison, grinning:

"If it had been someone other than me, they would've been crushed."

The audience erupted into cheers, their excitement surging at the sight of the two resilient students. Meanwhile, the other students stared in disbelief. The realization struck both Kirishima and TetsuTetsu simultaneously, a shared thought echoing between them:

*Someone with a Quirk just like mine?*

Before the moment could linger, the sound of explosions reverberated through the field.

**Boom!!**

Dust exploded into the air, shrouding the fallen robot in a thick cloud. The cause? Bakugo Katsuki, who shot through the dust like a missile, his explosions propelling him toward another giant robot. With a furious determination, he landed atop the robot's head, his feet planted firmly on the metal surface. Without hesitation, he slammed his palms down, releasing a series of powerful blasts.

**Boom! Boom!**

Explosion after explosion rocked the robot, but despite his relentless assault, the robot didn't fall. Bakugo's face twisted with frustration, his teeth grinding in fury.

*Damn! Is the difference between us really this big?* he thought bitterly, glaring at the robot as it remained standing, mocking his efforts.

Several students behind Bakugo were about to follow his lead, hoping to take advantage of the same route. But before they could get close, a sudden streak of purple lightning crackled through the air, cutting through the students and zapping the robot. The electrical charge traveled at blinding speed, racing along the robot's metal body.

**Zap!**

The moment the electricity made contact with the metal, it surged through the entire robot, immobilizing it. The purple sparks briefly stung Bakugo, forcing him to jerk his hands away from the metal. He glared at his palms, confused.

*An electric charge? It's like Kaminari's Quirk... but different.*

Everyone, from the students to the spectators, watched in awe as the robot stood frozen, paralyzed by the purple electricity. They turned to see who had unleashed such a powerful attack, and there he was—Fulan. The purple-haired student was sprinting toward them, his right fist crackling with purple sparks, a thread of electricity coiling around his arm.

Yamada's voice boomed over the speakers once again, full of curiosity and excitement. "It seems we have a new contender on the field! Wait... isn't that the student who transferred from Saikono Academy to UA Academy?"

Fulan heard Yamada's words, and though they added pressure to his already high-stakes race, he didn't let it slow him down. Instead, he kept his focus on Bakugo, who was now staring back at him from atop the giant robot. With a grin, Fulan shouted while still running, "You know you can blow it up now, right?"

Bakugo understood the meaning behind Fulan's words. The robot, already paralyzed by electricity, would explode easily if they combined their powers. With a scowl, Bakugo placed his hands back on the metal surface, muttering, "Tch! I don't need your help!"

**Zap! Boom!**

Purple electricity and fiery explosions collided, the combined force slamming into the robot's frozen systems. Yet, rather than a spectacular explosion, the robot simply sputtered, its body jerking as it lost all control. With a final groan, the machine came to a halt, no longer a threat.

Unlike Todoroki's frozen giant, this robot didn't fall. It remained standing, offering a perfect opportunity for the students to slip through its legs and continue the race. Fulan wasted no time, sprinting ahead with a satisfied smile as the last of the purple sparks faded from his fist.

However, his moment of triumph was short-lived. Tenya Iida shot past him in a blur of speed, his engines roaring as he zipped by. "You cleared the way for us too," Iida called back. "Don't regret it!"

**Fwoosh!**

In the blink of an eye, Iida was gone, leaving Fulan in his dust. Moments later, Bakugo flew overhead, using his explosions to propel himself forward. Despite the earlier teamwork, Bakugo didn't say a word, his eyes fixed on catching up to Todoroki.

Watching them race ahead, Fulan chuckled softly, murmuring to himself, "It was good teamwork anyway..."

"Nah, it was *amazing* teamwork!" a voice suddenly chimed in.

Startled, Fulan glanced to his right to see none other than Midoriya, his green hair bouncing as he sprinted alongside him, determination burning in his eyes.
