Chapter 09: Electrifying Synergy

**Chapter 09: Electrifying Synergy**

After the combined might of Bakugo's explosions and Fulan's electric currents neutralized the giant robot, the hulking machine froze in place, its massive body rendered immobile. Fulan, having opened a clear path, darted forward, slipping past the robot's towering legs. But he wasn't alone for long. The other students, eager to seize the opportunity, followed closely behind, grateful for the sudden opening.

"Quick, quick! Now's our chance!" one student shouted, racing after him.

"We're so lucky!" another echoed, eyes wide with relief.

A few of them even began whispering to each other, impressed by Fulan's efforts. "First, he freed me from the ice, and now he's gotten us past the first obstacle. I'm sticking with him!"

Among the students tailing Fulan was Midoriya Izuku, his face lit up with admiration. "That was incredible teamwork!" he called out, trying to catch up to Fulan. His voice was filled with excitement, the sheer wonder of their combined efforts still fresh in his mind.

Fulan glanced to his right, his eyes landing on Midoriya, whose expression was brimming with joy. Before Fulan could respond, Midoriya added, having caught up to his side, "Bakugo couldn't destroy the robot on his own, but once you paralyzed it with your electricity, his explosions were able to finish the job! The combination of electric waves and heat waves made the robot's body malfunction!"

Midoriya spoke with an intensity that surprised Fulan. He was passionate, almost scientific in his explanation, but Fulan couldn't help but chuckle softly, unsure of the specifics. "I don't really know what you're talking about," Fulan admitted, smiling sheepishly. "I just thought if we combined our powers, something would blow up or fall over. That's all." Then, with a raised brow, he asked, "But aren't you tired? How can you talk so much when everyone else is exhausted?"

For a moment, Midoriya fell silent, his gaze shifting forward, a spark of determination gleaming in his eyes. Then, as if to challenge Fulan's remark, he picked up his pace, overtaking him with surprising ease. "I've trained this body for a long time," Midoriya declared, his voice filled with confidence. "This is nothing!"

Fulan watched as Midoriya surged ahead, his steps light but purposeful. His ordinary appearance belied the strength and endurance he possessed. "No matter how much I watch him," Fulan mused to himself, "he just seems... normal. But Todoroki is determined to beat him. That means Midoriya must be strong, right? What exactly makes him stand out?"

As Fulan pondered, a figure stumbled up beside him, gasping for breath. It was Kaminari, his face flushed from exertion. He was panting so heavily that Fulan couldn't help but glance over, watching as Kaminari struggled to catch his breath.

"That... was... amazing..." Kaminari managed to wheeze between breaths, barely able to form a complete sentence. He looked like he had pushed himself to the limit.

The first obstacle, the robotic gauntlet, was now behind them, signaling that a third of the race was over. But many students, especially those who had fought off the smaller robots, were already reaching their limits, fatigue showing on their faces. Fulan, however, remained calm, observing Kaminari as he tried to regain his composure.

"How can you... control your electricity... so smoothly?" Kaminari asked between breaths, genuine curiosity in his voice.

Hearing this question piqued Fulan's interest. He slowed his pace, allowing the other students to pass by as he gave Kaminari his full attention. "Wait," Fulan said, eyes narrowing in thought. "Is your Quirk electrical too?"

Kaminari nodded, a bead of sweat sliding down his cheek as he stopped running. "Yeah... I'm like a battery. I can store electricity and release it when I need to."

Upon hearing Kaminari's words, Fulan's purple eyes widened with excitement, a bright smile breaking across his face. "This is perfect!" Fulan exclaimed, his voice charged with enthusiasm. "I've been holding back my power this whole time. I can't use my full speed without worrying about hurting the others around me with stray sparks. But with someone like you, I can go all out!"

Kaminari, still trying to catch his breath, looked confused. "What are you talking about?" he asked, his voice shaky.

Without warning, Fulan grabbed Kaminari's hand, his purple hair beginning to stand on end, charged with the energy building inside him. His eyes glowed a faint purple as he explained, "I can't move at the speed of electricity unless I release my full charge. But when I do, random sparks shoot off, and I can't control them. They could hurt anyone nearby."

A faint, purple spark crackled across Fulan's face before vanishing into the air with a soft electrical hum. More sparks flickered around him, their intensity growing by the second. Kaminari stared at the growing display of electricity, wide-eyed. "Wait... you want me to absorb your sparks? What's in it for me?" he asked, his voice wavering under the pressure of the surrounding electricity.

**Zap!**

Suddenly, purple lightning erupted around them, the energy swirling like a storm. Fulan's hair spiked upwards, fully charged with electricity, as he activated his ability, *The Full Purple Charge.* The air around them crackled with power, and the students nearby scrambled to distance themselves, fearful of getting caught in the storm of electricity.

From his vantage point, commentator Yamada shouted over the speakers, "What's happening at the back of the race?! What is that purple light?!"

Despite the electrical surge coursing through him, Kaminari remained calm, holding onto Fulan's hand as he absorbed the sparks without issue. His face was set in concentration, but there was a hint of a smile. Fulan, impressed, grinned and said, "Just as I thought. You can handle these sparks like they're nothing. Your name's Kaminari, right? I'm going to reach the finish line in seconds with this charge. If you keep absorbing the excess energy, I'll take you with me."

Kaminari, though his speech was slightly stuttered from the electricity, smiled back. "It's fine! For me, this is like... a really... good meal!"

The two stood together amidst the swirling electricity, a partnership forming in the heart of the storm.
