Romalia Mountains

Some distance from the gate is the camp of the Saderan Empire

A man in his forties was lying in a tent. He was General Albus, the commander of the expedition. He came at the behest of Emperor Molt Sol Augustus to conduct an expedition to the open gate between the Romalia Mountains. He was one of the emperor's most loyal men. He lay down peacefully because he knew that the forces he had sent could easily occupy the other side of the gate, for the empire had never been lost. He also led many battles in his life and he was successful in all the battles.

Then a soldier entered his tent.

"General Albus! Some of our troops have returned from the other side!"

Albus got up from his bed and sat down.

"I knew they would be able to occupy the other side, but so soon, the enemy seemed to be too weak," he said with a soft smile.

"No sir! Forgive the crime, the soldiers returning from the other side were talking about strange monsters! From whom they somehow managed to escape. Upon their return, many soldiers went mad and some soldiers wanted to commit suicide. They also said that the soldiers who had died at the hands of the monsters stood up again and attacked them. The flesh of the soldiers who died at the hands of the monsters was rotten. " said the Messenger sweating profusely.

Albus stood up and grabbed the messenger's collar.

"What are you talking about? Are you all right?"

"Sir! I'm telling the truth. You can talk to the returning soldiers yourself if you want."

"Okay, If you lie, you know what will happen to you."

"Yes sir, come with me"

A few hours later the General finished his meeting with his Legates whom he had called due to the news of their defeat on the other side. Before the meeting, he had walked down to the medical wing of his encampment and personally questioned the surviving soldiers.

All of them were in a hysterical condition as the messenger had reported and wanted to either flee away from the battlefield as fast as they could or commit suicide, despite that being treason towards their Empire.

All of them spoke about some kind of monsters on the other side. Not everything was normal when they reached the other side of the gate. On the other side of the gate they saw strange objects. But they did not pay attention to them. They faced a small defense team. The defense team had monsters, and magical creatures. Also everyone on that defense team was a strong mage. They had Magical weapons. Using which they killed many soldiers from a distance.

Also those magical beasts killed thousand of their soldiers. But even then the imperial troops were able to destroy them just for their numbers and kill and capture many magicians. But when the soldiers of the empire reach the mage. Then the mages dropped their weapon in their hands.

Surprisingly, swords, spears, axes etc. appeared in their hands from nowhere. These were the weapons of the gods. The soldiers of the empire have never seen such weapons. These mages were barbaric Demi Human.

With each of their wounds many soldiers were dying. However, the soldiers of the empire were only able to inflict serious injuries, kill and capture them because of their numbers. The people of the empire captured 13 people, and killed and wounded many civilians.

On the other hand, those two monsters showed no signs of getting tired. All those who were dying from their sword wounds were turning into zombies. They killed thousands of soldiers of the empire.

Then after some time suddenly a lot of light can be seen in the sky. These destroy all Wyverns Riders in an instant. Then a huge black and purple weird thing appeared. Many monsters like those monsters started coming out of it. Besides, thousands of people carrying weapons like mages were coming out. There were many strong beasts with them. Of course, they managed to bring back around six slaves from the other side. But after the arrival of the demons, everything turned into a living nightmare. The creatures massacred the veteran soldiers of the Empire without mercy, without remorse, without regret.

Seeing his soldiers' state, he decided the best course of action would be to strengthen their defenses on this side until further orders arrived from the Emperor and the Senate. He had sent a whole legion and a fifth of the expeditions Wyvern rider forces as a vanguard to the other side. Yet, only around fifty of them had returned. During the process, all of them had lost their minds.

Seeing no other real option, he decided the best case scenario was to strengthen the defenses on this side, not allowing those 'demons' to capture the mountains and with it suffer the lose of their remaining advantages. If the enemy managed to gain a foothold on the mountains, that would be catastrophic to the future of the Empire.

General Albus was not arrogant like other citizens of the Empire. No. He knew. The Empire was not invulnerable. If even a little bit of what the fleeing soldiers had told him was true, the Empire had just poked a sleeping dragon.

After the Legates and the General finished their meeting, the officials of the expeditions army went back to their legions to relay the commander of the expedition force's orders. There was no time to hesitate.
