EDWINA
I did not just hear that, right?
My jaw dropped open, shock and surprise slamming into me like a boulder.
"What…what did you just say?" my voice was barely above a whisper.
"Will you marry me, Edwina?" Kieran repeated.
My God.
Oh my God.
That was really what he said. He was proposing to me!
My hands started to tremble, and tears slid down my face.
It was happening. It was finally happening. Kieran saw the tears on my face and stood up, confused.
"Hey. Why are you crying?" he asked softly. His tender voice only made me sob harder.
After all these years, after everything that had happened, Kieran and I were going to get married.
I sobbed harder, too happy to do or say anything but cry. My son would finally know what it felt like to grow up in a real family, one where the Father wasn't absent.
