I watched Edwina as she slept in my arms, and peace settled on me.

A streamer floated over to me, and I looked around again, taking in the transformed living room. I tried to imagine the amount of time and energy that has gone into decorating the entire room, and my heart squeezed in my chest.

What would Edwina had done, if she realised that I had been so scared, so worried about her and that something might have happened? I wondered what her reaction would have been if I had drove off when I could not find her car in the garage and kept them waiting?

Thank God I came inside instead. It would have been terrible if I kept them waiting and waiting for hours.
