CHAPTER 175

KIERAN

I managed to calm Noah down after his mother left. A small part of me had hoped that Edwina would stay and at least attempt to speak to her son, especially after the question he asked.

I expected her to push the door open and coax him into talking. But not long after I shut the door, I heard her footsteps as she left.

A scoff slipped past my lips. What was I expecting?

Noah stopped crying after a while, and I told him stories of when I was young, at his age. I had realised at some earlier point that he loved hearing stories like this, and since then, it had become like a thing for us.

After what seemed to be an hour later, we went to check on Harriet. My girl was already awake, and I told Noah to go and get ready while I took care of his sister.

I was quite the pro at bathing and dressing up for my daughter now. It had been hard, those first days when Edwina became a work maniac.
