CIARA
"Ciara. How…how could you have done that? Do you even know how worried I was? How worried we all were?" my mother shook her head, the tears in her eyes sliding down her face.
My heart squeezed tight, sending bolts of pain through me.
Maybe I had been wrong.
Maybe I had taken things too far by punishing my parents just because I wanted to spurn Noah.
I took a step inside, my knees wobbly.
"Mum…I…" but I had no words. My throat bobbed as tears filled my eyes at the sheer disappointment in her face.
"Ciara. To my office. Now," father said curtly.
My mother looked away as I walked past them — Jeremy was acting as if I was invisible — and wordlessly followed my father down the hallway and into his study.
The door closed behind me. Father turned to me, his gaze cold, hard, and unforgiving.
"Why are you embarrassing me, running away from home and acting like a kid?"
