CHAPTER 38

NOAH

The date was at a restaurant sitting directly across the beach.

I was damn sure this was Harriet's idea — my sister had always thought the beach was romantic.

She was the one who convinced me to give these dates a trial too, telling me the same thing Ciara told me in the car.

Politeness. Civility.

I was sure those words were very unfamiliar terms in Ciara's world, but when she spoke to me in the car, I thought to myself that maybe she wasn't that bad.

Maybe she had a good side to her despite her very terrible attitude.

Maybe it would be worth it. Giving civility a trial between us. Like she said, we didn't even have to be friends.

All we had to do was stop the bickering and the constant fights and get along with each other for the sake of the family.

It was the least I could do, right? I mean, Jeremy and my sister were friends!

With a shake of my head, I pushed those thoughts away as I parked the car.
