Chapter 15: The Female Lead, Mo Shiyun

The seven-day vacation had swiftly passed the five-day mark, and during this time, Jian Yiling had been diligently occupied with various tasks. Besides attending to the daily visits from Qin Chuan, she was also frequently using her computer and mobile phone to communicate with individuals whose identities remained a mystery to her family.

At this moment, Jian Yiling had two primary objectives in mind. The first was to heal Jian Yunnao's injured hand, ensuring that he wouldn't develop a dark, unstable personality that could become a source of anxiety not just for her, but also for the entire Jian family. The second was to uncover the missing surveillance footage. In her recent investigations, Jian Yiling had discovered that there were indeed cameras in the area where Jian Yunnao's incident occurred. However, the corresponding video recordings had mysteriously vanished without a trace.

The Jian family seemed oblivious to this critical issue; they were entirely unaware that surveillance cameras existed in the corridor where the incident took place. To them, Jian Yunnao's testimony was more than sufficient. In the past, Jian Yiling had never thought much about the surveillance footage either. After she had explained everything to her family once, she had no desire to revisit the topic, even resorting to a rebellious outburst. "Yes, I pushed him! You can lock me up for it! Otherwise, just chop off my hand to compensate him!" she had shouted in defiance.

Today, Jian Yuncheng intended to let Jian Yiling rest for the day before taking her to the hospital to visit Jian Yunnao. As they prepared to leave, Jian Yiling grabbed a small backpack that appeared stuffed with various items. Jian Yuncheng noticed but didn't pry; after all, it was normal for a girl her age to carry a bag.

As Jian Yuncheng drove out of the Jian family home, he spotted Mo Shiyun waiting by the roadside for a ride. Since it was the weekend, she had the day off. In her hands, she held a lunchbox, likely prepared for Jian Yunnao.

The Jian family villa was situated in a mountainous area, far from public transport, and only a few buses passed by each day. Jian Yuncheng pulled over and rolled down the window. "Get in," he called out to her.

As Mo Shiyun slid into the back seat, it was the first time Jian Yiling had seen her in person. Just as described in the original work, Mo Shiyun was strikingly beautiful. She had an oval face and charming peach blossom eyes, her features perfectly proportioned, yet she emanated a friendly aura that made her approachable.

This was in stark contrast to Jian Yiling, whose excessively refined features combined with her strong-willed and stubborn personality often gave off an impression that made her seem difficult to approach.

"Master Jian, I think I'd rather take my own transportation…" Mo Shiyun replied cautiously, her tone sweet and polite.

"We're heading to the hospital too; it's on the way. Besides, I don't want my brother to eat cold food," Jian Yuncheng stated firmly, leaving no room for her to refuse.

With Jian Yuncheng's logic rendered undeniable, Mo Shiyun found herself with no valid reason to decline and climbed into the car. As she settled in, she noticed Jian Yiling sitting in the back seat, her side occupied by a pile of clothes that they were taking to the hospital for the two injured individuals. The only available seat was the front passenger seat, so Mo Shiyun took that spot.

During the drive, Jian Yuncheng frequently glanced at the rearview mirror, observing Jian Yiling's demeanor. The entire situation had been set in motion because of Mo Shiyun. If Jian Yiling had genuinely changed for the better, she shouldn't be displaying anger when facing Mo Shiyun.

To Jian Yuncheng's relief, he didn't detect any signs of anger from Jian Yiling. She was focused on her phone, seemingly engrossed in whatever she was doing, as if she hadn't even noticed Mo Shiyun entering the car.

Satisfied with her calmness, Jian Yuncheng turned his attention back to Mo Shiyun, inquiring about various matters related to Jian Yunnao. He realized that, over the past couple of years, he had rarely been home and that his understanding of his brother sometimes paled in comparison to Mo Shiyun's insights.

Mo Shiyun answered all his questions one by one, and they found themselves engaged in a lively conversation, discussing everything from Jian Yunnao's hobbies to his current health condition. The atmosphere in the car became warm and relaxed, with laughter occasionally breaking out over shared memories of Jian Yunnao.

As they drove along the winding roads toward the hospital, Jian Yiling couldn't help but listen intently to their conversation. The way Mo Shiyun spoke about Jian Yunnao highlighted her genuine concern for him, and a wave of warmth spread through her heart. Perhaps Mo Shiyun was a good influence after all.

When they finally arrived at the hospital, Jian Yuncheng parked the car, and the three of them exited together. The hospital loomed large, its sterile exterior stark against the vibrant sky. As they walked through the entrance, Jian Yiling couldn't shake off the feeling that she had entered a different world—a place where worries lingered in the air, thick and palpable.

Inside, they headed straight to Jian Yunnao's ward. The atmosphere shifted as they approached, an amalgamation of anxiety and anticipation weighing heavily on their shoulders. Jian Yiling's heart raced; she was determined to support her brother and ensure that he recovered fully. She hoped her efforts, coupled with Mo Shiyun's presence, would help Jian Yunnao heal, not just physically, but emotionally as well.

Little did they know that this visit would mark the beginning of a new chapter, intertwining their lives in ways they had yet to understand. Mo Shiyun's warmth and kindness would soon prove to be a source of strength, while Jian Yiling's resolve to protect her brother would become the foundation for the bonds they were all about to forge.
