Chapter 101: Hamilton

“Ham,” Madison turns to face me as soon as I close the bedroom door, “we’ve got a lot to talk about.”

“I know. It’s been a busy week.” I pull her towards the bed. “In a perfect world, my proposal would have led to us making decisions about our future immediately.” I pull a knee between us on the bed. “Or at least discussions over the next couple of days. I felt like you needed to focus on other things, and we would get our time to chat later,” I explain.

She nods. “It’s been one thing after another, hasn’t it?” She curls both legs between us and grasps my hand. “I’m exhausted, but we need to talk about some stuff.”

“I’ve described the condo to you and the pet services we have available.  We can handle two dogs.” I intertwine my fingers with hers in her lap. “I need to be in Chicago in three days. I’d like to take the two of you with me when I go back. I know you have stuff to arrange in Athens, but most of it can be taken care of over the internet and phone.”
