Chapter 127: Madison

Upon returning to Chicago, our life does not slow down as I’d hoped. Fallon and Liberty submerge themselves in activities. They attend playgroup, tumbling, and swim lessons held in our building. I’ve observed a few times; Liberty seems to love playing with her peers. I’m settling into a new writing routine four days a week. Delta insists I leave one day a week open to run errands, go shopping, or just hang out with her. She ensures that I enjoy my new city and make new friends, and I love her for that.

I squeeze in a couple of hours to write this morning before my girls arrive. Our home will be crowded for the next 48 hours. My four friends, along with their two daughters, are driving up for a Christmas shopping trip. I don’t look forward to shopping, but I do look forward to the time we will spend together.

“Lunch time,” Miss Alba states, peeking her head through my closed door.

I save my document before shutting my laptop for the rest of the week.
