Chapter 147: Hamilton

Liberty and Madison sleep the first several hours of our six-hour drive to Athens. I worry in my absence that Madison will not rest as she should; even though I’ve asked several people to keep an eye on her, it’s my job as her husband to care for her during our pregnancy.

I’ve listened to my teammates talk about juggling baseball and family; it just never hit home until now. I’ll be the one they tease for ducking out early to call home. I’ll be the one not hanging out after practice in order to speak to my daughter before she falls asleep. They’ll say I’m “whipped,” and I will love it. I’m proud to be married. I’m proud to be a father. I hope I can juggle my traveling for work and being an involved parent.
