Gu Yicing remained silent.
She knew exactly what she was doing. The plan had been to pocket the three million for his treatment, then use the acupuncture as an excuse to teach this man a lesson. It wasn't her fault that Fu Hannian had shown up too early and ruined everything.
"So? Did I hit the mark?" Fu Hannian's voice dripped with sarcasm. "It seems your bad habit of flirting with men can't be fixed. I'll give you two choices: either resign from the medical alliance yourself, or I'll do it for you."
His commanding, icy words cut into Gu Yicing like a blade.
The tiny bit of goodwill she had started to develop toward him vanished entirely. This man was hopeless. He'd live alone forever at this rate.
"Fu Hannian, let me tell you something. I'm not accepting either of your options. I'm choosing a third: divorce."
Her temper flared as she shoved the towering Fu Hannian away. She quickly gathered her things from the table and stormed out of the private room, furious.
Li Feng stood frozen at the doorway, eyes wide in disbelief. How was it possible that every time, without fail, the young master managed to enrage the young madam like this? At this rate, the bride they had just welcomed into the family would be scared off for good.
"Fine. Divorce it is. If I don't divorce, I'm a dog." Fu Hannian was equally furious.
He couldn't tolerate the idea that his wife had nearly seen that scumbag Wu Yong naked, and even less could he stand her high-and-mighty attitude when speaking to him.
Why had he ever chosen to marry such an arrogant woman? He must have been out of his mind.
"Master, please calm down," Li Feng urged, trying to soothe his boss.
"Calm down?" Fu Hannian snapped, sinking onto the sofa in frustration. His long legs crossed as he pulled his phone from his suit pocket, dialing a number.
The call connected quickly.
"Old man, bring the marriage certificate to the Fu family mansion," Fu Hannian demanded. He knew his father had taken the certificate after the wedding, and retrieving it would be no easy task.
"What do you need the marriage certificate for?" the old man asked suspiciously, an uneasy feeling settling in.
"Divorce," Fu Hannian answered decisively.
"That's not happening. If you want a divorce, you'll have to walk over my dead body first. Then, and only then, can you take back the marriage certificate."
With that, the old man hung up the phone, leaving no room for argument.
Fu Hannian had anticipated this outcome. He hadn't made the call expecting any other result; it was just a way to vent his anger.
He tossed the phone onto the coffee table and leaned back into the sofa, his posture lazy yet commanding, like a king surveying his domain. His piercing gaze then shifted to Wu Yong, whom Li Feng was still holding by the collar.
"Come here," Fu Hannian ordered.
Li Feng dragged Wu Yong forward, throwing him down at Fu Hannian's feet.
"President Fu, I was wrong! If I'd known that the Divine Healer Gu was your wife, I wouldn't have let her anywhere near me, even if you gave me ten extra lives! Please, forgive me!" Wu Yong was trembling, his voice shaking as he groveled on the floor, begging for mercy.
Fu Hannian pulled a cigarette and lighter from his pocket, lighting it with a practiced flick. In the dimly lit room, the glow of the cigarette flared with each drag, casting fleeting shadows on his face. He exhaled slowly, sending a cloud of smoke swirling through the air.
His gaze, sharp and cold as a blade, bore into Wu Yong.
"First," Fu Hannian began, his tone casual yet deadly, "you disrespected my wife. Second, you've been colluding with Fu Corporation's shareholders, causing problems with our perfume exports. You've got one life. How do you plan to repay me for both offenses? Give me a solution that makes sense."
His voice was calm, almost indifferent, but the words he spoke were chilling.
Upon hearing this, Wu Yong's legs gave out beneath him. He scrambled to kneel before Fu Hannian, his knees hitting the floor with a loud thud. "President Fu, I was wrong! Please, I beg you, have mercy. I'll never do anything like this again!"
